Subject: NOMAD Fest. Oct. 25-27 - who's coming?
From: lamarca
Date: 23 Oct 02 - 10:57 AM

Hello from a lapsed Catter! Whoall is coming to NOMAD (NOMAD Festival in Newtown, CT)this weekend? A brief scan of just Saturday's schedule shows Catters performing (and I've probably missed a few):

Saturday

2:00-3:00   "Riversongs" with Catters Judy Cook, lamarca and hubbies - up against "Lotsa Laughs" with Midchuck and others
3:00-4:00 "Poetic License" with me (lamarca) and George and KathWestra
4:00-5:00 "Those college Days" with Woodchucks, vs. "Shanty Blast" with cast of thousands
5:00-6:00 "Tragedies and Hard Times" with KarenK and friends
6:00-7:00 "Guitar Styles" with Jerry Rasmussen and Mike Agranoff
7:00-8:00   KathWestra in concert vs. "Do You Love Me" with Woodchucks again (working hard this year, Peter!)
8:00-9:00 "Favorite Ballads" with the Patons and the Milners (Liam's Brother) vs. "Gospel Styles" with Jerry Rasmussen and the Gospel Messengers and the Beans
10:00-11:00 "Songs of the Hobo" (not Pogo?) with Kendall and Sandy Paton

As you can see, there's WAY too much music occurring simultaneously. Dick and Susan will have a booth there with Camsco, as will Sandy and Caroline with Folk Legacy, and there's lots of good crafts and dancing. NOMAD is a really fun festival and I encourage everyone within the area to come down for a day (or two!) Look at their website for directions, costs, and a full schedule:

You said it all, Lamarca. I'll be there with the Messengers, and the Messengerettes are coming, too. They aren't like the Raylettes, and won't be singing, but they're looking to it as much as the Messengers are...

See you there..

Jerry

As lamarca noted - Dennis & I will be there and singing LOTS.

Our concert is 3pm on Sunday. I know plenty of people have to leave early, but I hope there will still be some folks to sing on the choruses.

I promise to do the "pig song" that was mentioned in the Getaway thread.

Cheers,
Judy Cook

There will be a special Friday night program honoring the late Alan Lomax and his lifetime dedication to collecting, preserving, and promoting traditional music. Jerry Epstein is EmCeeing, with Jack Langstaff (who will present some videos of Lomax), Robin Roberts (who collected with Lomax in Ireland), and Jeff and Gerret Warner (who grew up with Lomax as a friend of their song-collecting & singing father, Frank Warner). Caroline and I, who knew Lomax in London, will also participate in some way. I understand that the audience will be invited to contribute, as well. Ought to be an interesting evening. Starts at 8 p.m., I think.

Sandy

My goof. NOMADman's thread, which I didn't see before I submitted the above misinformation, says the Lomax tribute starts at 7:30. Glad I planned to arrive early! See some of you there?

Sandy

I hope that all Mudcatters I don't know will come over and say hello, and introduce themselves. All the ones I know can just come over and give me a hug. I'll be in the guitar workshop Saturday night from 7-8 and in the Gospel in Black and White from 8-9... if you're going to another workshop, at least stop over and say hello..

See you there...

Jerry and the Gospel Messengers

One point of explanation: Our "Those College Days" set at 4:00 on Saturday is not intended to be a concert appearance by us. It's supposed to be a song swap, concentrating on the best-remembered songs from the first folk boom of the early '60s - i. e., "College Days" for us, at least. Probably diaper days for a lot of other folks on the list. It'll only be a concert by us if we can't get anyone else to take turns.

Peter.

Morticia and I will not be coming. We both caught bad colds at the Getaway, and we are in misery. Damn!

Kendall, I can sympathize. At least mine waited until most of the Getaway was over before it attacked me.

Oh, kendall, I'm disappointed. We were really looking forward to seeing you & meeting Morticia. What will the hobo songs be like w/o you? Feel better soon, the both of you!

love,

Barbara

Believe me, Sandy needs no help from me. He is an institution; I merely belong in one.

Kendall, hardly got to see you all summer, and now you're down with a cold! Are you sure it's not a seasonal allergy? Actually, I'm feeling kinda wheezy myself and hope it holds off until Sunday. We may or may not have a bass player, who is currently home in bed sick with a bad cold. Take care of yourself. Sniff.
