Subject: Mike Absalom back in UK From: Sooz Date: 05 Oct 02 - 05:39 AM Last night Mike Absalom played his first gig in the UK since 1980 - at Gainsborough Folk Club. His harp playing was still great and his humour has left us all aching! Look out for him in a venue near you. He will certainly be coming here again. |

Subject: RE: Mike Absalom back in UK From: Watson Date: 11 Oct 02 - 12:41 PM We saw him in Stafford last night - I'd go so far as to say he was better than ever - well, he had about 20 years worth of new stories to tell for a start. He still did a fair selection of the old songs - although a couple of times the audience remembered them better than he did. His new material was incredible though, especially when he played the harp. Did you see him in Canada, Sooz? He said the first time he'd played harp in this country was last Friday. He even pronounces the word with a Canadian accent! If you get the chance, go and see him on this tour. It may be some time before he comes over again - the money he's making barely covers the ferry fare. |
