Subject: The Cornerboys.....Halifax.. From: skarpi Date: 21 Sep 02 - 09:53 AM Halló all , well at last I got a cd with the Cornerboys and i have to say I am glad to, I like it alot. There are still lyrics I need to get: Rose of Avalon, and Johnny Bucher. Those two song are great to listen to and I am pritty sure that they will be on song list in a short time. All the best Skarpi Iceland. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Cornerboys.....Halifax.. From: Jim Dixon Date: 15 Oct 02 - 10:49 PM I would guess JOHNNY BUCHER is a variant of JOHNNY BUCCA or JOHNNY BOOKER, which are in the DT. Look at one of those songs and then follow the links to threads that discuss other variants, for example, OLD JOHN PIGGER, OLD JOHNNY BOOGER, OLD JOHNNY BUGGER, and OLD JOHNNY PUCKER. I have had no luck with ROSE OF AVALON. The only reference I find to it, besides the track list of the album, is this review which refers to it as an "original tune" with a "mournful tin whistle solo". Are you sure it has words? |

From: GUEST,Skarpi at work Date: 16 Oct 02 - 03:09 AM Yes Jim , It has words here is the first line : As walked out at first daylight, through the street of old St.John, It was there I met the wandred sight, the Rose of Avalon. So I just need to get the rest , this is a great , great song after Rob Currie member of the Cornerboys. All the best Skarpi Iceland. |
