Subject: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: Oaklet Date: 02 Sep 02 - 05:12 PM Still unsure about the rules governing shameless self-promotion on the Mudcat, this is just a warning that the Potato Orchestra is doin' the Moulders on Friday 6th September from 9.00pm. Until a bit later. And taking advance orders for the seminal CD "Asleep Behind the Settee". It would be great to see if there are indeed, any 'Catters in the Hull area. Or perhaps Sireen's assertion is true that the characters who post here from or near the piscine metropolis, are a figment of Skipjack's over-fertile imagination. Free beer for all, but you might have to exert assertiveness with the graceful and lovely Lance who dosn't know about that invention of mine. Ms Penelope Rutledge: do you want accommodation? I can promise a relatively undisturbed night at my farmhouse. You stern devil, you. |

Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: Les from Hull Date: 02 Sep 02 - 05:31 PM Sorry Oaklet, but I think that Maggie and I will have to re-visit the Kingston for our (previously) regular Friday night session following Wibbly and the Shandy weekend. Geoff the landlord might have sold our seats by now. |

Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: The DeanMeister Date: 03 Sep 02 - 04:06 AM Oaklet, I shall be there my friend, with the present Mrs Deanmeister. Looking forward to an evening of beer and heckling. Was supposed to be in Paris, but I have postponed my trip till next week just so I don't miss the Potato Orchestra! |

Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: ossonflags Date: 03 Sep 02 - 04:28 AM Oaklet,I would have loved to be at your gig with the spud band, but the manager of Punch the horse is whisking me away for a weekend of lust and drunkeness (destination unknown) but I have been informed it is via Billingsgate. She says this is to celebrate our twenty five years together (god how time flys) Will you be exibiting your new shanty singing skills? Dear old boy,why break the habit of a lifetime with this coy pretence of non self promotion. Put me down for at least one copy of your excellant CD.After being privilaged to hear the demo I can say without fear of contradiction that it is a superb piece of work. See you at foresters next thursday with the rest of the equine pugilists |

Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: GUEST,Oakley Date: 03 Sep 02 - 05:01 AM Congrats to you and Mary on the 25th anniversary. Thanks for the warm comments about Cara's "Asleep Behind the Settee". I thought we'd agreed not to mention Billingsgate again, as it makes me flush with embarassment. Can I have your kidney stone please? Deanmeister, Cara is running an advanced heckling workshop at the Moulders, an hour before the performance. See you there. |

Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: GUEST,Oakley Date: 03 Sep 02 - 08:55 AM Heckling masterclass with Lance-the-gazelle starts at 7.00 upstairs. Heckling for beginners and the heckling workshop are both at 8.00, run by me and the bloke-who- looks-like-the-bloke-out-of-Kiss. One class is in the tap room, the other in the lounge. You will need rotten fruit and items of ironic underwear for the masterclass. |
Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: The DeanMeister Date: 03 Sep 02 - 09:02 AM Will assemble said items. Masterclass sounds like the one for me. |

Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: Oaklet Date: 04 Sep 02 - 07:35 PM OK, there is now a fourth workshop entitled "Heckling can be fun" at the coast on Friday afternoon at about teatime. This is suitable for beginers and improvers alike. It will be run by an evil - smelling drunken man in a felt hat. |
Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: The DeanMeister Date: 05 Sep 02 - 04:59 AM Can't attend the "Heckling can be fun" workshop, Oakley. Will be gargling with sweet nectar in the company of by far the prettiest Assistant Bar Manager in the East Riding of Yorkshire. But I will think of u all. Not. |
Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: GUEST,ossonflags Date: 05 Sep 02 - 12:30 PM I resent that description of me oakley, especially as I wont be there.Any heckling done by me will be done in the middle of the north sea at that time,Mrs.Ossonflags has dropped a broad hint that we will be on north sea ferries as part of the festivities.Sigh-------- I was so looking forward to going via billingsgate and mayhap glimpsing the elusive Ms.Routledge. |

Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: Bassic Date: 05 Sep 02 - 12:53 PM Just a word of warning to you and Mrs `Flags. Can I recomend that you take your own fire extinguisher with you. I have it from a "deep cover" source on the docks that, a certain nautical vessel had yet annother "naked flame in a place where it shoulnt be" incident as it was entering our local ship parking facility this morning!!!!! Allegedly of course........ |

Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: smallpiper Date: 05 Sep 02 - 12:59 PM I understand that the open univorcity is running a course this year on the history and methods of heckling. Modules include; "the history of heckling", "methods and madness", "famous hecklors" "basic heckling", "intermediate heckling" and "advanced heckling" (which is only available if you sign up to the "how to be rude to performers" additional module)as well as a specialist module on acuracy entitled "cabbages or tomatoes". Should be good and will tie in nicely with Fridays workshops |

Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: Oaklet Date: 05 Sep 02 - 01:22 PM Sir Roger, are you reading this? I have a hunch the the Peoples Voice Heckling Festival could become a permanent stain on Beverley's music mattress given a little nudge in the right direction. By the way, there could be a fifth workshop: "Hupping at the most inapropriate moments in tunes". This is an artform that Smallpliers is developing. It isn't very satisfying to listen to, but by Christ, it's amusing to do. Ossenflags, please don't think I was alluding to you in my description of the host of the "Heckling for beginners workshop". I know full well that your hat is a wool/polyester mix. Anyway it's tomorrow, its free, it's at 9. CRACKERJACK. And Lance has laundered his tu-tu. |
Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: smallpiper Date: 05 Sep 02 - 07:08 PM Excuse me oaklet but it is an extremely difficult thing to do - unless you are a bad bohooderanananan player - and it is as you say an art form that takes an awful lot of practice - you and the deanie are making fair progress in developing these skills. Then there comes "advanced dancing on the off beat" -(another potential workshop) - thats a bugger to do but very funny especially if performed infront of the band - it makes life very difficult for them! |
Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: The DeanMeister Date: 06 Sep 02 - 06:02 AM "Hupping at the most innappropriate moments in tunes" is indeed an artform which needs to be explored further, gentlemen. I trust Oakley will be a leading exponent of the art this evening. I will be doing "advanced dancing on the off beat" to make the mayhem complete. |
Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: smallpiper Date: 06 Sep 02 - 06:08 AM Good man! That's the spirit. So it will be a lively evening if slightly out of time - see you there (if I can find the place) |
Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: The DeanMeister Date: 06 Sep 02 - 06:30 AM AHA!! Smallpiper is coming. We can cause mischief of the highest order! Better watch out, John. I may have to protect you from Specky's advances..... |
Subject: RE: Cara at the Moulders Arms Beverley UK From: smallpiper Date: 06 Sep 02 - 08:05 AM No need to protect me, you've been told what a wicked boy I am!!!!!!!!!! But mischief oh yes indeed! :-) |
