First, I'll blame it all on Kat. She drove me around while we tried out guitars. I ended up buying a Studio S model of the Dean. It definitely has a thinner neck, my thumb and first finger can reach alllll the way around it. My fingers a sore but I think I'm really going to like it. I missed half the Rockies game playing around on it, they lost. I no longer have the Martin backpaker, I traded it in on the new one. I never could figure out how to get a good hold on it, always slipping around. Hopefully Kat and I will get together a lot this fall and winter and learn some songs together. I'm sure I'll be back with questions on how to do so stay tuned, I need help. bet

Congratulations, bet! (And good for you, Kat, for "making her do it.)

I'm sure you'll like this Dean better than the backpacker. (I've got one, too, and I've hardly ever played it, because its neck is too thick and the body is balanced so weirdly.)

Now you've gotta bring your new guitar to the Balboa Park Jam on Sept. 28 if you can't make the one on Sept. 1. That way I'd get to meet you and check out the Dean at the same time.

Genie

Well, geez, Sis, I thought you'd be in the Dean geetar thread, so I almost miss your "confession!" **BG**

I'm so proud of you, ya done good! It was a lot of fun to drive around and check them all out. Been a long time since we lived within such an easy distance to be able to do that kind of thing. I've got at least two new songs to learn.

Heya'll! She even made the guy throw in a new strap with the whole deal.:-) Seriously, it is a nice guitar and fits her a lot better than the other one she had, plus that backpacker! I think of those as the Twiggys of guitars...nothing to grab hold of!:-)

Bet, I can't believe you actually missed part of a Rockies game! That means you really do have GAS*!!!

Congratulations, dear, darlin' sister...it was a pleasure...

I think you'll like your Dean, I sure like mine. Kat, where did the darn Dean thread go to. I was following it, but forgot to trace it. Now I can't find it. Can you point me in the right direction?

Blues

It's a little trick, Blues=Life. Ya put in a keyword you remember from the title of the thread, i.e. "dean" (without the quotation marks) in the search box at the top of the threads, then use the drop down menu to set the age filter back however as far you think you need to and voila! Up pops yer thread. If that is clear as mud, just give a holler and I'll send ya a PM, or you can read about it in the FAQs.

Thanks, Genie!

Genie, I'd LOVE to come to both the gatherings in Sept. but time won't allow, it's a 16-18 hour drive for me so I'll just have to be happy that some of you can get together and have a little fun. Do a sea shantey for me, please. I probably won't get there again until next summer, maybe Christmas but I may do Fairbanks (Grandson is in Fairbanks)then. So far I'm still enjoying practicing and my hand isn't hurting. Much nicer feeling instrument. Enjoy! bet

16-18 hours?! Where the heck are you located -- over by Kat in Colorado? I thought you were in California.

Genie

PS, if you think you might be around SD near Christmas, please let me know.

Hey bet:

Is that new Dean a green one or a blue one? They come in so many finishes now. Does it have the tiger striped wood?

Hugh

Kat, I had tried that, but my success rate has been about 50-50. Maybe I didn't capitalize Dean. Maybe I'm just hopeless with computers. I can play harmonica pretty good, so it all balances out in the end. LOL Thanks Genie, for the help.

Peace,

Blues

Banjoest, Nooooooooo it's not green, yellow, or blue. It's pretty plain looking, dark wood on the sides and light on front and back. It does have mother of pearl around the sound hole and a straight stripe down the back (not a yellow strip). Right now I'm not using the strap I talked them out of. I can't figure out how to make it hold the guitar the way I want it. Oh well, maybe that will come in time. Genie, Yep, I'm in Colorado. My oldest daughter, Tammy lives in Cardiff. She has taken in my son in hopes of leading him in a straighter path than I was able to. He's 19 so I don't think he'll be staying with her too long. And just so you know, my other daughter and her husband and son are the ones by Fairbanks, he's in the Air Force. My grandson is 6 and of course does nothing wrong. He and his mother lived with me this last year while Rob was putting in time in Korea. I'm really glad they are together again but I do miss all of them. This house is pretty quiet. Good for practice though. I'll let you know when I'll be that way again. You never know I might just say ********* to teaching the little darlings and take off for SD. Have a great time. bet
