Subject: Is my CD player toast? Help!
From: GUEST,Alan Terego

A plea for help from a sporadic poster - but long time enjoyer.

This is getting ridiculous. I've had two portable CD players stop functioning in the last couple of years and now a pretty expensive CD clock radio has bit the dust. What happens is when I put the CD in it just spins a bit and then stops. The "no cd in machine" lite then comes on. It's like the needle, or whatever the doohickey is called simply can't reach the cd or something. Anybody got any suggestions, or am I just poison for CD players?

Thanks

Al

try cleaning the heads, to do this you need a head cleaning disc, it is a CD with little brushes on it, they are about 5pounds from Argos or a Hi-Fi shop.

Are we related Al? I've had EXACTLY the same thing happen. I've cleaned heads repeatedly with no change. Must be SOMETHING else.

Cheers

Rick

Try a blast of air...........the lens for the lasar is probably dirty. I give the handsome mando player a bad time about giving the deck a "blow job" but it works. You can also use the compressed air that is used for cleaning computer components

It's the batteries. Digital equipment won't run when the batteries drop below 1.5 volts.

It doesn't seem to be any of the above, and three in two years seems to be more than mere coincidence. Guess I'll keep hoping someone here has the answer.
