Subject: Traditional Christmas instrumentals
From: GUEST,Eli the Ice Man

I've been searching the web for a CD or tape that I can learn Christmas songs from, with the following requirements:

a)instrumental, one player, a guitarist (accoustic: classical or steel string); b)mostly traditional Christmas tunes, the ones in the minor keys like 'What Child Is This (Greensleeves),' 'God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen,' other English traditional tunes, e.g.,???? c)fingerpicking;

d)no musical notation, no TAB;

e)playing difficulty: intermediate;

Does anyone know of a musical compilation of Christmas tunes that might satisfy all or most of the requirements above? Thanks for any and all help -

would like to help, but your "no musical notation, no tab" requirement is puzzling.Do you mean you dont use either, so it's not necessary? And why minor key only, you seem to be eliminating the majority of suitable repertoire that way, especially if you want the stuff to be recognisably Christmas-associated toan audience when played instrumentally.

try The Christmas Guitar - they do include sheet music - but you could throw that out.

thanks MMario...that's the one that comes as close to what I've been looking for...but no cigar. I had checked that one out previously. There's a mandolin player on some of the tunes...and there's tunes on there that don't fit the criteria, sooooo.........

I've been putting off buying that compilation in the hope there's something out there that fits a little better - which is why I started this thread.

Let's get this right,Eli. it's got to be a recording, only finger picked guitar, no other instruments, all Christmas tunes, all in minor keys, and no notation or tab in the liner notes.Idont think eve Masato will find this. Unless youve just recorded one yourself, and are trying to drum up interest?
