Subject: RE: Lyr Req: FIRESIDE DREAMING From: Jim Dixon Date: 27 Jul 02 - 09:52 PM FIRESIDE DREAMING appears on 2 albums by Charlie Landsborough: "The Collection" and "Songs from the Heart." Landsborough also wrote and recorded WHAT COLOR IS THE WIND, which is probably why our guest was inspired to ask for FIRESIDE DREAMING in the same thread that discussed WHAT COLOR IS THE WIND. FIRESIDE DREAMING was also recorded by Foster and Allan on a video called "Souvenirs and Memories." I suspect that Daniel O'Donnell merely sang FIRESIDE DREAMING and that Landsborough is the writer. However, I can't find any mention of FIRESIDE DREAMING at Daniel O'Donnell's official web site, and Landsborough's web site doesn't credit any authors. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: FIRESIDE DREAMING From: Ebbie Date: 24 Oct 06 - 01:12 PM Is the song that I'm trying to find? It begins something like: Last night by my fireside dreaming Came a beautiful vision to me I heard it last week from a 93-year old man who doesn't seem to know all the words. (Great voice, though) |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: FIRESIDE DREAMING From: Ebbie Date: 24 Oct 06 - 05:09 PM Of course I *did* mean to say: "Is THIS the song I'm trying to find'? Does anyone have the lyrics? The chorus is something like: 'Twas Jesus calling from heaven To me there alone And the beautiful picture he gave me Of Mother around the white throne. I think the first verse goes: Last night by my fireside dreaming Came a beautiful vision of home I saw the bright angels in glory Up there around the white throne Up |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Fireside Dreaming From: Jim Dixon Date: 26 Oct 06 - 11:41 PM On an album by Just Two called "Little Patch of Blue" there is a cut called FIRE SIDE DREAMING which is credited to Charlie Landsboro (sic). I transcribed this from a sound sample: ...When daylight closes its tired eyes and slips away, When twilight fades in golden hue, In my little corner of the night, I think of you.... (I don't think it's the same song Ebbie is looking for.) |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Fireside Dreaming From: KT Date: 11 Sep 12 - 04:09 AM I will, guest, 999. And thank you. The dear gentleman Ebbie mentioned is no longer with us-left last year at the tender age of 97, but with your renewing this thread and providing lyrics, I can "hear" his voice singing it once again. Thanks for facilitating such a lovely, warm memory. KT |

Subject: RE: LYRIC ADD: Fireside Dreaming From: rumanci Date: 05 Oct 12 - 09:17 PM FIRESIDE DREAMING written by Charlie Landsborough When evening falls its gentle way When day light closes its Tired eyes and slips away When twilight fades In golden hues In my little corner of the night I think of you. And I came down and nothing can Come between us No mountain high no rollin' sea I see the love that could have been us Then fireside dreaming Carries you home to me And if my hopes can not come true I'll spend each night of my life In fireside dreams of you While breezes tall, to every tree And through my window Old man moonlight smiles at me Across the sky, of darkest blue I lose my sorrow in the flames And think of you My foolish heart is sweetly yearning For how I missed This world to be And like a ship that keeps returning My fireside dreaming carries you home to me My fireside dreaming carries you home to me (with a re-write of obvious transcription errors) From: http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Fireside-Dreaming-lyrics-Charlie-Landsborough/BD9AB04E5EA01FF648256D3E002D4842 |

Subject: Lyr Add: FIRESIDE DREAMING (Charlie Landsborough) From: Joe Offer Date: 16 Nov 12 - 11:16 PM I don't think I like this song much, so I wonder why I should spend any time on it. Besides, the guy has terrible diction. Anyhow, here's what I hear: FIRESIDE DREAMING (Charlie Landsborough) When evening falls its gentle way When daylight closes Tired eyes and slips away When firelight fades In golden hues In my little corner of the night I think of you. And nothing then Can come between us No mountain high, no rollin' sea I see the love that could have been us Then fireside dreaming Carries you home to me And if my hopes cannot come true I'll spend each night of my life In fireside dreams of you While breezes talk to every tree And through my window Old man moonlight smiles at me Across the sky, of darkest blue I lose my sorrow in the flames And think of you My foolish heart is sweetly yearning For how I meant This world to be And like a ship that keeps returning My fireside dreaming carries you home to me My fireside dreaming carries you home to me from the Charlie Landsborough CD, Songs from the Heart Also recorded by Foster and Allen, who have better diction. |
