Subject: Hey TROLL! Can I borrow this: From: Celtic Soul Date: 04 Jul 02 - 09:38 AM I was doing a forum search for alternate verses to "Westering Home" and all I came up with was the one you wrote: "Rolling along through the grey Irish Sea, It's bloody brilliant, and perfect. I had thought to write my own for this one to flesh it out (as I too think it's too short, and there don't seem to be any more trad verses out there), but seeing as you seemed to have hit the nail on the head, I thought I would ask permission to borrow it. Would you mind? I'd be more than happy to credit you for the writing of it. Click for previous thread

Subject: RE: Hey TROLL! Can I borrow this: From: greg stephens Date: 04 Jul 02 - 09:47 AM I have a serious reservation on this verse. I think the singer should be having a kip, and not wasting time on the foredeck. I'm sure it's going to be a fair while till you can see Islay, given the wind direction and the location of Ireland and Man described. |

Subject: RE: Hey TROLL! Can I borrow this: From: Celtic Soul Date: 04 Jul 02 - 10:07 AM Greg, good points. I do like still like it for the feel though. It brings forth the emotive state of the excitement of seeing home for the first time in a long time. Like a kid waiting on the stair, and looking out the window for the first glimpse of a parent who has been away. |

Subject: RE: Hey TROLL! Can I borrow this: From: CarolC Date: 04 Jul 02 - 10:09 AM Hey CS. troll's in Japan. I think he'll be there for maybe another five months. He said he might be on-line from time to time, but he wasn't promising anything. |

Subject: RE: Hey TROLL! Can I borrow this: From: greg stephens Date: 04 Jul 02 - 10:12 AM I was only being pedantic! i think troll was pssibly carried away by the emotion of the moment, and the misting of his eyes caused a slight misreading of the chart. My guess is it was the Mull of Kintyre he mistook for Islay.(Could be a song in that, too). |

Yes, I am in Japan, working for Tokyo Disney as an "atmosphere" performer. That means I wander around a stylized Cope Cod waterfront with my guitar and sing sea songs. And for this I get paid! |

Subject: RE: Hey TROLL! Can I borrow this: Westering Home From: Celtic Soul Date: 05 Jul 02 - 11:03 PM Thanks, Troll!!! I love the song, and that verse I think rounds it out nicely. I appreciate your willingness to share it! I am envious, as well, of what you are doing, and where. :::sigh:::

Subject: RE: Hey TROLL! Can I borrow this: Westering Home From: Celtic Soul Date: 13 Jul 03 - 11:05 PM Hey Troll... We're recording the song, and per your permission, have included your verse. How would you like the liner notes to credit you? I am thinking "Troll" might not be quite enough. Thanks!! |

Subject: RE: Hey TROLL! Can I borrow this: Westering Home From: Celtic Soul Date: 14 Jul 03 - 01:47 PM Yup, finally...we have been working fast and furiously on a new studio CD. I think it's going to surpass anything we've done thus far. And, thanks in part to Trolls verse, we have a really wonderful version of "Westering" to go on it. That song as only 2 verses in length has never seemed long enough to me. And, although the lyrics are a little incorrect, the feel was perfect for our intents. Does anyone have any contact information on Troll? Perhaps a RL name in case he does not respond to my PM or this post? I would very much like to be able to credit his work on the liner notes. |
