Subject: Whittlebury Song & Ale, UK From: BB Date: 23 Jun 02 - 09:59 AM There are a few places left for this year's Song & Ale in Northamptonshire. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but take a look at the entry on our web-site at www.umbermusic.co.uk/songandale.htm and if you think it might interest you, e-mail me at tomandbarbara@umbermusic.co.uk for further details - don't forget to send me you snailmail address! If someone can also e-mail me to tell me how to do the blue clicky thing, I'd be very grateful! Barbara |

Subject: RE: Whittlebury Song & Ale From: Noreen Date: 23 Jun 02 - 06:33 PM Any chance of knowing which weekend in September? :0) |
|
Subject: RE: Whittlebury Song & Ale From: JudeL Date: 24 Jun 02 - 07:51 AM Noreen : it's on 27th - 29th September. If you can come I think you'd enjoy it. Just remember to bring your wellies and extra bedding as 1)camping is on the field next to the barn on a working farm and 2) it can get cold at the end of September |

Subject: RE: Whittlebury Song & Ale From: Noreen Date: 01 Jul 02 - 12:03 PM Was just about to post my application (which may have been too late anyway) this morning, when I realised ithat Whittlebury clashes with the Ewan MacColl celebratory weekend in Salford, with Peggy Seeger, Alison McMorland & Geordie McIntyre, Kevin & Ellen Mitchell, Sandra Kerr and heaps of others... I missed the first Salford do last year so I'm committed to this one. Another year! Have a lovely time, all. )What's that about wellies? We wear nothing else on out feet up here in t'North...) |

Subject: RE: Whittlebury Song & Ale From: Abuwood Date: 19 Sep 02 - 02:18 PM Looking forward to next weekend, beside Treaties who else is going? |
|
Subject: RE: Whittlebury Song & Ale From: Herga Kitty Date: 19 Sep 02 - 04:17 PM Barbara I've never made it to Whittlebury, for various reasons, which now include middle-aged resistance to camping,as well as work and aged mother limiting opportunities to go away for whole weekends, but if dropping by to say hello is permissible please let me know (and PM or e-mail info about where Mr Wesley's farm is actually located!). Kitty |

Subject: RE: Whittlebury Song & Ale From: Julie B Date: 26 Sep 02 - 07:14 AM I'm booked in...but wellie-less at the moment :-(!!! Julie B |

Subject: RE: Whittlebury Song & Ale From: GUEST, BB Date: 26 Sep 02 - 09:13 AM Kitty, you'd be more than welcome if you'd been in touch earlier, but it is, for legal reasons, a 'Members Only' event. (No, it's got nothing to do with PELs!) I'm already away from home at present, and using someone else's computer, but I'll e-mail you about it when I get home. I don't even have your e-mail address with me, I'm afraid. Sorry! Julie, with a bit of luck, we won't need the wellies (I'm touching every bit of wood I can find!), as the weather forecast at present looks extraordinarily good! See you tomorrow. Barbara |

Subject: RE: Whittlebury Song & Ale From: vectis Date: 26 Sep 02 - 09:59 AM A dry Whittlebury!!!!! Not traditional at all, but welcome. I look forward to being able to say "There was once a dry Whittlebury. I know 'cos I was there." See you tomorrow. Mary |

Subject: RE: Whittlebury Song & Ale From: nutty Date: 26 Sep 02 - 11:33 AM Couldn't cope with the 5 hour drive this year but will be thinking about you all. I'm sure it will be great and a dry Whittlebury is an incredible event (people sitting around outside singing and chatting) I bet there's someone still singing the loo song though

Subject: RE: Whittlebury Song & Ale From: radriano Date: 26 Sep 02 - 11:47 AM I've never been to the Whittlebury Song & Ale but local singer Dick Holdstock has been there several times and just raves about it. Wish I could go. |

Subject: RE: Whittlebury Song & Ale From: Herga Kitty Date: 26 Sep 02 - 02:46 PM Barbara - thanks. It was worth asking anyway! Kitty |

Subject: RE: Whittlebury Song & Ale From: GUEST,vectis Date: 29 Sep 02 - 06:32 PM I am pleased to announce that this was a dry Whittlebury. We drank the bar dry and had a cracking weekend. Nice to see so many familiar faces. Even nicer to be able to sit on the grass and chat. |

Subject: RE: Whittlebury Song & Ale From: GUEST,BB Date: 30 Sep 02 - 07:28 AM Radriano, if you think you might be able to get over here some time, and can make sure that it's at the end of September, send me your snail-mail address, and I'll put you on the mailing list. You'll stay on it for three years, but can then ask for it to remain on the list if you still haven't managed to make it. This also applies to anyone else who thinks that it might suit them - no instruments, and a job to do for a couple of hours during the weekend - I think those are the only possible downsides - and many people think they're actually the opposite! Please e-mail tomandbarbara@umbermusic.co.uk PS: Like the song, Nutty, but where did you get the vindaloo? Missed you, by the way. Barbara Barbara |
