Subject: Send Me to the 'Lectric Chair From: GUEST,Marymac90--what--have I no cookie?!!! Date: 02 Jun 02 - 03:47 PM Hi, Ya'll! Long time no visit-I've missed youse guys! I hope everyone has been well. Does anyone have the lyrics to this song, often thought of as one that David Bromberg does, but it was done much earlier, I think by Bessie Smith. I did check digitrad, but it doesn't seem to be there. I'll try checking back in a little while, and see if any of the "speed demons" are around, just waiting for a question they can answer so fast it makes your head spin! Thanks in advance, ya'll! Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Send Me to the 'Lectric Chair From: GUEST,Frogmore Date: 03 Jun 02 - 06:02 PM Hoyt Axton did a fine version of this. It was on an LP that pictured him jumping off a freight train I think. Should this song be the Texas National Anthem? (Just a joke....I apologize to Texan Mudcatters. Many of my favorite friends and musicians are Texans. By the way, why are there so damn many great songwriters from that state?) Anyhow, I always dug Hoyt. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Send Me to the 'Lectric Chair From: GUEST,Larkin Date: 03 Jun 02 - 07:02 PM I've always sung ' I stabbed her with my Bowie and kicked her in the side then I stood there laughin at her till she wriggled around and died . And the last verse begins 'I don't want no moneyman to go and stand my bail ,I don't want to spend no 99 years in no jail. And I usually end with the ' Good Evening friends' tag but sing 'I wanna fry' Martin |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Send Me to the 'Lectric Chair From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 04 Jun 02 - 10:01 AM Another pleasant Mudcat coincidence. I've been listening to Tracy Nelson (the little lady with the big voice) do this song and thought it would be a nice addition to my own repertoire. In the 60's or 70's there was an English rocker who played organ. His name escapes me now, but he did a rollicking version of this song. Any songwriting credits here? Roger in Baltimore |
