Subject: Lyr Add: WHITE LINE (Willie P Bennett) From: Jim Dixon Date: 02 Feb 12 - 08:02 PM WHITE LINE (Willie P. Bennett) As sung by Pure Prairie League on "Alive in America" (2011) Cold and lonely on the road, Lord, I wish I had a hole to climb in. Summer's warm rain sure ain't comin'; Lord, it seems to me I'm thumbin' once again. Tired and hungry once again, sleet keeps comin' down on top of me. I wish to the Lord I had a warm coat an' a hat so I could see CHORUS: Standin' by a midnight highway, 'Scuse me, sir; are you goin' my way? On an' on the endless white line goes. You know, that could 'a' been me you're list'nin' to on your radio. It could 'a' been warm inside or someplace 'stead o' standin' here in the snow. Sunny days are what I pray for, sunshine burnin' down on my skin. Get on south to the Teton Mountains; Lord, it seems to me I'm thumbin' once again. CHORUS TWICE Standin' by a midnight highway, 'Scuse me, sir; are you goin' my way? On an' on the endless white line goes. On an' on the endless white line goes. On an' on the endless white line goes. On it goes. |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: White Line (Willie P Bennett) From: PHJim Date: 03 Feb 12 - 02:16 AM I was lucky enough to obtain a few of Willie's harps. Hopin' they still have some of his mojo on 'em. The last song I ever heard Willie play was Stardust at Jackie Washington's 88th birthday party. That's the last time I ever saw Jackie too. I love this version of Hoagy's song: Willie's version of Stardust |
