Subject: Old Songs From: kendall Date: 30 Mar 02 - 12:24 PM I just received a treasure in the mail today; my ticket to Old Songs. Last year there were a dozen or so Mudcatters there, and, I'm looking forward to seeing all of you there again this year. So, who's going? |

Subject: RE: Old Songs From: Midchuck Date: 30 Mar 02 - 01:31 PM It's been quite a few years now since the Woodchucks missed one. And this year Chris Newman and Maire She-Whose-Last-Name-May-Not-Be-Spelled, and Beppe Gambetta, will both be back. As I said on TUMGF, possibly the two best US-style flatpickers in the world who aren't American. Our son is serious about flying out from Portland (West - he's nowhere near Kendall, so he's safe from corruption) again to attend.
YEEHAW!Peter. |

Subject: RE: Old Songs From: DonMeixner Date: 30 Mar 02 - 03:18 PM I may be there for awhile. Maybe even the whole show. I'm doing my best anyway. The down side of gigging in band, can't make plans for the others. Don |

Subject: RE: Old Songs From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Date: 30 Mar 02 - 07:46 PM My brother-in-law picked that weekend to get married, again. I've tried to convince my wife that I went to one of his weddings so I really don't need to be there for his second but she isn't buying that. I am still going to go for Friday and part of Saturday, swing back to NYC for the wedding Saturday evening, and depending on how I feel I will be there Sunday. Old Songs has truly become my favorite folk festival. This years lineup looks incredible! Ron |

Subject: RE: Old Songs From: Jeri Date: 30 Mar 02 - 07:52 PM Ron, see if he can re-schedule. I'm always there, unless I'm in Kuwait or Korea or someplace like that. I grew up around that area, and it's great to see familiar places and old friends. |
|
Subject: RE: Old Songs From: Burke Date: 30 Mar 02 - 09:28 PM I'll be there. It looks like a good program, as usual. |
|
Subject: RE: Old Songs From: Barbara Shaw Date: 31 Mar 02 - 11:49 AM We're thinking about it. Two years ago we made it to the festival in our motor home (last minute) but they wouldn't let us camp - said it was sold out. So if you plan to go and stay, make reservations. We ended up driving back to the festival we had left to go to Old Songs! But it was nice to walk around for awhile and see a few mudcats and hear some great music. |

Subject: RE: Old Songs From: Naemanson Date: 31 Mar 02 - 07:02 PM Since I can't get to Mystic this year I will probably try to get to Old Songs. But I ain't makin' any promises yet. I have a very expensive summer coming up, what with the wedding and all. But, my Rebecca's mother has a camper we could use.... |

Subject: RE: Old Songs From: GUEST,JohnB Date: 01 Apr 02 - 12:39 PM I agree with MMario, it's a real "SOB" (I hope that's what he meant and it's nothing to do with crying) I/we will not be able to attend this year. It relates mostly to available vacation time(the rest to the money). The choir we sing in are going to Ireland in May. This is the first tour we have been able to go on so we do have a resonable excuse and 15 days in Ireland should account for at least two days recompense for missing OSF. It will however not put a dent into missing meeting you guys in person plus the Nights in the Dutch Barn. Lets hope it does compete though. Have Fun those who go, hope to see you in 2003. JohnB. |

Subject: RE: Old Songs From: bbc Date: 01 Apr 02 - 03:54 PM I expect that Duane D. & I will be there. Looking forward to seeing you all! This year, for once, it's a few days after I get out of school. We'll actually be able to be there for the beginning! bbc |

Subject: RE: Old Songs From: Desert Dancer Date: 01 Apr 02 - 04:41 PM Yippee yahoo, me too! I've only been once (in '96), but have been wanting to get back ever since. I'll be there in a tent with 7-year-old Dan. I'm debating (with myself) the appropriateness of leaving him sleeping in the midst of a field of tents while I'm out somewhere dancing or singing to the wee hours... we do have walkie talkies... ~ Becky in Tucson |

Subject: RE: Old Songs From: Midchuck Date: 01 Apr 02 - 05:31 PM Becky, if you camp adjacent to the Woodchucks' Encampment, there'll pretty much always be someone nearby who can make a point of checking that he's all right. We mostly stick around and jam rather than going to a lot of the evening concerts or dances. Of course, it'll be noisy if he's not a sound sleeper... Peter |

Subject: RE: Old Songs From: DonMeixner Date: 01 Apr 02 - 06:28 PM Mark, I looked up Rose Tattoo on google and got a band with Angry Anderson as lead singer. Angry as I recall was the boss henchperson of Aunty Entity in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Is this the same band?? Don |

Subject: RE: Old Songs From: 53 Date: 01 Apr 02 - 06:41 PM Love the Beatles Old Songs. |
|
Subject: RE: Old Songs From: Mark Ross Date: 01 Apr 02 - 06:42 PM Don, This Rose Tattoo isn't really a band. We're a loose amalgamation(some say aggravation)of singers & pickers, centering around our old friend Utah Phillips, who rode(or ride)the rails, or work on the trains, and play and sing songs about trains(we even write some)and who wear a Rose Tattoo somewher on our bodies. If you go to >utahphillips.org< and click on thhe page that says Utah Phillips there's a place to click where it says Rose Tattoo. The group is fairly amorphous. Present at Old Songs will be; Larry Penn-Cream City Slim Milwaukee, WI Bruce Brackney-Haywire Brack, Victoria B.C. Kuddie- Nevada City, CA Rik Palieri- Totem Pole, Hinesburg VT Bob & Diana Suckiel-Boomer Bob & Mama Pipes K.C. MO & myself-Smokestack, late of Butte, MT now residing in Eugene, OR Hope to see you ther. Mark Ross |

Subject: RE: Old Songs From: Desert Dancer Date: 02 Apr 02 - 12:15 AM Thanks for the tip about the Woodchucks, Peter. Fortunately, Dan is a very sound sleeper. (Comes of being trained from the start to sleep on stage with the band while his mom calls the dance!) I figured that if there was a way to camp in/next to a jam that I'd get my late night singing in without too much guilt! It'd be great if I could get a little late-night dancing in, too, especially if I miss the daytime dances if my folks don't come up. See you there! ~ Becky in Tucson |

Subject: RE: Old Songs From: dick greenhaus Date: 04 Apr 02 - 11:27 PM You probably all know this, but... If you wear a Mudcat T-shirt or something with a Mudcat patch, you can be recognized by other Mudcatters. What? You don't have either? Tell you what I'm gonna do... |
