Subject: Rapper 2002 UK From: Roger in Sheffield Date: 09 Feb 02 - 07:22 AM Last year I saw some rapper dancing at Sidmouth and liked it much to my own surprise (could be a Wicker man thing) In April there is a rapper contest at Kelham Island Industrial Museum here in Sheffield, South yorkshire, UK So if the weather is good it should be a great event I have been to a few events at Kelham and there is always a good atmosphere, and good beer at The Fat Cat newspaper article |

Subject: RE: Rapper 2002 UK From: JeZeBeL Date: 09 Feb 02 - 09:30 AM Rapper dancing rocks....I used to dance with PENGWYN from Newcastle when I was at uni there, and have never been so drunk in my life. It's a good thing to watch and I also got dragged on a rapper crawl(pub crawl) with the notorious Black Swan Rapper round York, it rocked totally. The only difficult thing about rapper is the stepping. It's like tap dancing at speed. Thanks for the info, I could be very tempted to go watch that. Jez xx |

Subject: RE: Rapper 2002 UK From: Dave the Gnome Date: 09 Apr 02 - 09:11 AM Do you think Eminem or Missie Elliot might turn up? Could be terribly confusing for the Sheffield young and trendy set if they turn up with baggy pants, wooly hats and shades expection to see their heroes couldn't it;-) Cheers

Subject: RE: Rapper 2002 UK From: English Jon Date: 10 Apr 02 - 11:12 AM Jon Loomes - Variously seen with fiddle, guitar, assorted squeezeboxes etc. 27 years young. Ask Mr Offord who I am. I probably know you from Whitby Sword Spectacular, if you're a Pengwyn type. I play for Ryburn from time to time, although living in Cambridge kind of limits my folking activities north of Brum. EJ |

Subject: RE: Rapper 2002 UK From: Dead Horse Date: 10 Apr 02 - 02:20 PM So, you are "English Jon". You played for Bishop Gundulfs at Whitby, too. Bloody good, and heard you play at Rochester Sweeps a couple of years back. Anything you pick up, you play, and damn well, too. Pleasure to know you. Ken. |

Love to Flora when you see her - I sent her a CD the other week, although out of context she probably hasn't got a clue who it's from!!! Jon |

Subject: RE: Rapper 2002 UK From: Tig Date: 11 Apr 02 - 04:48 PM In between watching the rapper on Saturday you could come and find us. Rincewynds are going to be there as one of a few 'select' stalls. Start your this seasons collection of badges early!! P.S.Firecat has just shaken her head at me, told me she's not going as she's still recovering and told me off for advertising. I'm STILL proud to be an embarassing parent! |

Subject: RE: Rapper 2002 UK From: Sonnet Date: 13 Apr 02 - 03:15 PM Just needed to say how much I've enjoyed myself at Kelham Island this afternoon and in the Fat Cat and Kelham Island Tavern this morning. Unfortunately, due to Chris being out with the Rhythm Chaps tonight, we had to leave before the end. Rachael McS phoned me to say that the Fallen Angels had won their section and Newcastle Kingsmen had also won theirs. Well done too, to Briony from Fallen Angels, who I understand was awarded best musician. Please could anyone supply details of winners in other sections, please? Janet McS |

Subject: RE: Rapper 2002 UK From: Tig Date: 14 Apr 02 - 02:20 PM Black Swan had an excellent day and carried off their group, most exciting performance and best character. Can't remember the rest but since Andy (Windy B's son) dances for Kingsmen he can probably find the rest out for you. |

Subject: RE: Rapper 2002 UK From: Sonnet Date: 14 Apr 02 - 04:22 PM Thanks, Tig. Hmmmm, interesting....I'd already been told that Newcastle Kingsmen had been awarded best characters, rather than Black Swan. Presuming that Andy was in the same 'tackin' as my daughter and her partner (a Fallen Angel and a Kingsman) were afterwards, (and rightly so :) )I wouldn't hold much hope out for him knowing any more than my little Angel!! As we actually walked out with Chris and Geraldine, I'm not sure they would know any more details, either, but thankyou for what you have told me. Anybody else know any more results, please? Janet |
