As I reread the analysis of Raglan Road thread, I realized there were some other classic threads here that I have long since forgotten about. Do others have some favorites they'd be willing to share?

I don't know how to make a link to it, but "Songs of Faery" was one of my all-time favorites. The "Green Man Tavern" and the "Island" threads had some great songs "performed" too...

Here's a link to the Songs Origins Permathread, in case anyone needs to refresh their memory about a particular favourite along those lines.

I've really enjoyed the ones about Barbara Allen and the old cowboy songs.

In the links you'll find Memorable Mudcat Threads, where I listed Where Is Spancil Hill? and Origins of Carrickfergus, Why we sing, Three-chord songs, Threads on the meaning of folk, and Threads on the singing voice. I haven't updated it for awhile - it would take me some time to make sure I am not duplicating the Classic Threads. Look in the FAQ thread and you will find both Memorable Mudcat Threads, and Classic Threads in the table of contents that Joe put together.

Back when "Tales of Walt Robertson" was fresh, I added it to Memorable Threads... it just isn't listed in the FAQ contents.

I have an idea. Ban music threads from Mudcat. They just clog up a forum that truly belongs to the Bull Shit.

It strikes me that people who post in cowardly anonymous fashion complaining about the poor ratio of music to chat threads in this forum probably post WAY more bullshit than anyone else and NONE of it has to do with music. This is the sign of s seriously disturbed mind...or a seriously obnoxious personality.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't yet gotten around to learning to do blue clickies, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one... Someday...

Anyhow, for fast, helpful, thorough and interesting response, I nominate the thread I started a couple months ago called "LyrReq: Down on Penney's Farm."

A self-proclaimed BS thread which I consider a legitimate music thread is "BS: Flying with your guitar." Lots of really good tips here, and some great links.

Cheers, Nancy
