Subject: Story From: Auxiris Date: 01 Feb 02 - 07:03 AM One day in winter, Nasreddin Hodja and some of his friends were together, shivering around a fire and complaining about the bad weather. One of them, who was more thoughtful than the others said: "It is part of human nature to complain. In winter, people complain about how cold it is and wishes for summer. When summer arrives, they then complain about the extreme heat and wish for winter again. No one is ever happy!" Then Nasreddin, who hadn't added anything to the conversation for a while, said with a sigh: "Yes, but does anyone ever complain about springtime?"
cheers,

Subject: RE: Story From: Jeri Date: 01 Feb 02 - 09:44 AM I complain about Spring! It's too muddy, and having spring means summer is later than it would be without spring. I had an idea for a song, but haven't written it yet. The first half of the verse praised the season, the second half complained of its bad points. the chorus would have been something about "thank goodness seasons do change!" |

Subject: RE: Story From: Midchuck Date: 01 Feb 02 - 10:13 AM In Vermont, nobody complains about late spring, except about the various bugs, of course. Early spring is called "mud season" and everyone complains about it very loudly except maybe kayakers. Especially people with low-slung, powerful cars, who live on dirt roads. But they're crazy in the first place. Peter. |

Subject: RE: Story From: Auxiris Date: 02 Feb 02 - 10:41 AM I have to admit that folks here in Lorraine do complain about spring, too, but not very loudly. Aux
