Subject: starter lap steel From: van lingle Date: 29 Jan 02 - 02:54 PM my right shoulder will be out of commission 6-12 wks. due to surgery and i'm considering taking up lap steel. does anyone have experience with a morrell. elderly sells these w/ book and video for $185 and i'm wondering if they are worth it. they also have blue stars for $300. also looking at a couple of magnatones from the fifties $250-$350. i'm pretty well versed in fingerstyle blues in open d (e)and i'm hoping that some of that will translate to steel.any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. dave |

Subject: RE: Help: starter lap steel From: Henry Krinkle Date: 31 Jul 12 - 05:52 PM I like the Vega lap steels from the 30's and 40's. The Triumphal model is my favorite. And the Commander is very nice. I wish I hadn't sold my Commander. I want another one. |
