And contrary to what I'm sure this thread *looks* like on the surface, plenty of people love me personally, however There Ain't Nobody Loves me is theoretically the name of a song, which I need some information about, and hopefully lyrics and a tune too.

All we know so far is that it was apparently quite popular in England sometime between 1920 and 1940, and ws referred to in a mystery novel. If anybody could help with this I'd be very grateful indeed.

(I'm not trying to get dates!)

Probably not the right one, but take a look. Does anybody know if there is a site like Levy for British music?

Another possibility at The Lester S. Levy Collection of Sheet Music: NOBODY LOVES ME words by Harry B. Smith music by Victor Herbert, 1906. Could be this one.

If the title of the song really is "There Ain't Nobody Loves Me", it is most unlikely to have been written by a British songwriter. More likely to be an American song that gained favor (sorry, favour) in Britain.

From Lord Peter Views The Body by Dorothy L. Sayers, 1928:
The gramophone struck into an old and half-forgotten tune: "There ain't nobody loves me." The girl in red was claimed by a tall mask in evening dress. A hand laid on Roger's arm made him start....
My usual sources have failed to disclose a song with that title. I think Dorothy L. Sayers either made it up or got the title wrong.
