Subject: Lyrics - Upload and Download From: Arbuthnot Date: 17 Jan 02 - 04:48 PM I've been taught and told how to do these things in the past, but I've lost my piece of paper! Can I have concise replies as to how to download files from the Mudcat as plain text, and how to upload lyrics for contribution to the database - there'd be a lot more blues in there if I knew how to do this! Sorry, but sometimes I'm just so stupid ... and I thought it might be of general interest. |

Subject: RE: Help: Lyrics - Upload and Download From: Geoff the Duck Date: 17 Jan 02 - 06:20 PM Arbuthnot. If you use a Windows PC (I don't know what Mackintoshes do) the quickest way to get plain text from a web page is to use the mouse pointer and left button to highlight the text of the song (or page), Click on the menu EDIT and find COPY (or press Ctrl+C) which copies the text to the computers universal clipboard. Next open your favourite wordprocessor (or notepad)and PASTE (Ctrl+V) the text into it. Save the resulting wordprocessor file after formatting the text for printing. Sending lyrics in is probably answered in the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions - the top thread in that funny green colour known as TEAL) Which if I cut and pasted the correct link should be HERE I hope that helps! Subject: RE: Help: Lyrics - Upload and Download From: Sorcha Date: 17 Jan 02 - 06:57 PM The other way to add (upload) lyrics to the DT/Mudcat is to type them. After every line you need to add <> with br between the angle brackets. For a double space between verses or the chorus, do the br thing twice. If you copy and paste from somewhere else, you still need to use the angle brackets and br. It doesn't matter whether the br is upper or lower case. |
