Subject: Toronto Banjo Concert From: GUEST,Arnie Date: 14 Jan 02 - 09:40 AM The second annual Banjo Special is coming up. Here's who's who. Chris Coole and Arnie Naiman are clawhammer and old time banjo players . They play original and traditional songs and tunes and have 2 CD's of their work. From Sligo Ireland, Brian Taheny is a virtuoso multi instrumentalist. His rarely heard skill on Irish tenor banjo is something to behold. Chris Quinn plays bluegrass banjo and is regarded as being a very hard driving, bluesy and creative player. He plays in the style of Earl Scruggs, but has been known to wander. The performance will consist of intimate dialogue with audience, analysis of different styles, techniques and approaches, Q and A, and playing the (damn) banjo. Audience members are encouraged to bring instruments to show, sell, trade etc………… The performance will be on January 25th, 2002 at 9:00PM at the Tranzac Club at 292 Brunswick Avenue. Toronto It's just south of Bloor and west of Spadina. Tickets are $14 at the door or $12 in advance. Reserved tickets can be requested by calling Chris Coole at (416) 516-3796. |
