Subject: RE: Can I retrieve an old thread? From: Genie Date: 14 Jan 02 - 04:20 AM If you enter a key word or phrase from the thread title into the forum search and then set it to the appropriate number of days (e.g., 365, if you posted the thread a year ago), it should bring your thread back up. If you are a member, you should also be able to retrieve it via your name. Genie |
Subject: RE: Can I retrieve an old thread? From: GUEST,PaulM Date: 14 Jan 02 - 04:22 AM Here it is: Music to Kipling Poem Lots of different ways to search here. The 'filter' is probably the easiest (if you can remember the thread name). I found this by clicking on your name in this thread. A list of everything you've posted appeared. Read the FAQ for more info. Paul |
Subject: RE: Can I retrieve an old thread? From: Genie Date: 14 Jan 02 - 04:23 AM Kipling, if you just click on your name at the top of this thread, it will list the threads you've posted to. Then click on the one you want to go back to. Genie |
Subject: RE: Can I retrieve an old thread? From: Skipjack K8 Date: 14 Jan 02 - 04:24 AM Welcome, Kippers. Click on your name, Kipling, where it appears in the first posting in this thread, and all your postings will be listed. You should find the thread there. If you were guesting at the time, it sadly won't feature. In that case, type a key word from the thread into the search box on the left hand side of the forum page, and hopefully it should bring up sometning, but the site only seems to be archived at irregular intervals. If self help fails, return here and post the thread title here, and cleverer 'Cats than me will find it within three minutes, mission statement speed. Is your interest exceedingly good cakes, or literature? Skipjack |
Subject: RE: Can I retrieve an old thread? From: Genie Date: 14 Jan 02 - 04:25 AM Looks like Paul took the words out of my mouth while I was entering my last post. These Mudcatters are always johnny-on-the-spot to help. Genie |
Subject: RE: Can I retrieve an old thread? From: catspaw49 Date: 14 Jan 02 - 04:26 AM This one? Any thread can be retrieved and continued anytime and there are 40,000+ threads. There are several ways to search for old threads. First you can use the DT and Forum Search (top of thread list, main page) and enter a word or phrase, ie; Kipling. You can use the filter search for threads by entering a word that you know is in the thread title and set the refresh for some time period that you know the thread may have been active in. You can retrieve every posting you have made by clicking on your name in a posting or by doing a forum search located in the "Quick Links." You can also put a trace on any thread by simply activating the trace function-click on "Trace" and the thread will always be on your "Personal Page" until you click detrace. Mudcat has a ton of features so I suggest you spend some time reading the FAQ...It's long, but there's a lot here! Welcome to the 'Cat! Spaw |

Subject: RE: Can I retrieve an old thread? From: SharonA Date: 14 Jan 02 - 06:19 PM Once you've found your thread, you can add it to your Tracer (found on your Personal Page) by clicking on the "Add Thread to Tracer" link at the bottom of the thread, just above the "Reply to Thread" area. Then when you want to see the thread again, go to your Personal Page (click on the link in the menu bar) and click on the name of your thread! |
Subject: RE: Can I retrieve an old thread? From: catspaw49 Date: 14 Jan 02 - 07:30 PM Well we already said that Sharon, but Kipling seems to have disappeared.........This happens a lot with people not expecting fast replies and also in this case, Kipling may have lost this thread too. So let's just refresh it occasionally til there is a response. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Can I retrieve an old thread? From: gnu Date: 15 Jan 02 - 03:08 PM That's occasionally ? Or did you lose it, Spaw ? The thread, I mean. I know you lost IT. |
Subject: RE: Can I retrieve an old thread? From: catspaw49 Date: 15 Jan 02 - 03:22 PM No....just don't really give a turkey turd. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Can I retrieve an old thread? From: SharonA Date: 15 Jan 02 - 03:35 PM catspaw: I know you'd already said what I said, but I wasn't sure that "put a trace on any thread by simply activating the trace function-click on 'Trace' " would be understood by a newcomer, so I rephrased it! (Next time, I'll write a little greeting-card-style couplet about it! *G*) |
Subject: RE: Can I retrieve an old thread? From: catspaw49 Date: 15 Jan 02 - 04:19 PM Great idea Sharon!! See if you can work "turkey turd" into it......okay? Spaw(:<)) |
