Geoff Muldaur sings "Wait til I put on my Robe" on one of his albums. Anyone have all the words ? My hearing won't let me pick them off the CD. Thanks.

From a Google search, it is on Muldaur's 'Password' album and credit is given to Clarence Clay and William Scott. The Double Decker String Band, an oldtime band from Washington DC area, give the same source for their recording of the piece. A recording with the same name was made in 1928 by The Famous Jubilee Singers - Masato or Dicho may have some knowledge of this. Anyhow, here is my transcription of the Double Decker recording - it seems to consist mainly of gospel floaters and may or may not accord with Muldaur's:

WAIT TILL I PUT ON MY ROBE
(C.Clay/W.Scott)

Wait till I put on my robe
Wait till I put on my robe
Oh till I put on my robe
Oh yes, oh yes
Wait till I put on my robe
Wait till I put on my robe
Oh till I put on my robe
Oh yes, oh yes

The Jordan River is chilly and cold
Oh yes, oh yes
Chills my body but not my soul
Oh yes, oh yes
One of these mornings and it won't be long
Oh yes, oh yes
You're going to look for me but I'll be gone
Oh yes, oh yes

I'm going up to heaven to sing and shout
Oh yes, oh yes
Nobody there to turn me out
Oh yes, oh yes
Just wait till I put on my robe
Wait till I put on my robe
Oh till I put on my robe
Oh yes, oh yes

I'm goin' to the river put my soul in His hand
Oh yes, oh yes
Shout, troubles over in the Promised Land
Oh yes, oh yes
I ran to the river and I been baptised
Oh yes, oh yes
Tryin' to make it to the other side
Oh yes, oh yes

Wait till I put on my robe
Wait till I put on my robe
Oh till I put on my robe
Oh yes, oh yes
Wait till I put on my robe
Wait till I put on my robe
Oh till I put on my robe
Oh yes, oh yes

Wait till I put on my robe
Wait till I put on my robe
Oh till I put on my robe
Oh yes, oh yes

May I add that the Clarence Clay and William Scott version of this song can be found (if it can be found - I still didn't, and unfortunately the album isn't available on CD ;-) on their 1963 Prestige/Bluesville album 'The New Gospel Keys' (Bluesville 1066)
