Subject: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: Fiolar Date: 07 Jan 02 - 09:09 AM My prayers and sincere sympathy are with the Chancellor Gordon Brown and his wife as they wait at the bedside of their tiny daughter Jennifer who is seriously ill with a brain haemorrhage. I know just how they feel. Thirty years ago my wife and I watched and waited as our baby son slipped away into eternity. Sadly less than eight years later, she joined him. No words can describe the loss and the emptiness, but hang in there lad and lasses, there are many rooting for you. |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: The_one_and_only_Dai Date: 07 Jan 02 - 09:46 AM Yes, for what it's worth, sympathy indeed. And also to you, Fiolar, I cannot begin to imagine this kind of trial, the poor people. |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: Paul from Hull Date: 07 Jan 02 - 09:53 AM I saw this thread not long after Fiolar posted it....but didnt know what to say, so waited until someone else did. Thanks Dai, you have summed up what I wanted to say, but couldnt fid the words to respond to Fiolar (& its his circumstances I was 'stuck' on, moreso than what Gordon & Mrs Brown must unfortunately be going through...) |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: Maxine Date: 07 Jan 02 - 12:06 PM My thoughts are with the Brown's at this heartwrenching time. All us parents know the instant love we have for our children, our hopes and dreams for their happy, healthy future. To have all this snatched away is cruel and is something we all live in terror of. Keep fighting little Jennifer. Fiolar, times like this must bring sad memories rushing back to you, but thankyou for posting this thread. Maxine |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: GUEST,A Yankee Date: 07 Jan 02 - 12:25 PM Who is Gordon Brown? The name Brown is not German but a chancelor is? I feel more sorry for the poor Catholic family that was bombed by the bloody Ulster Prods last night. That is someting controlable and punishable and the evil doers can be brought to justice. |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: Cappuccino Date: 07 Jan 02 - 01:28 PM Guest, there are many causes that need sympathy and prayers. Rather than feeling more or less sorry for any of them, I think we should make sure that they * all * get our sympathy. - IanB |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: gnomad Date: 07 Jan 02 - 01:32 PM GB is UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, and whatever I feel about his politics I wouldnt wish his present situation on anyone. All the Browns have my sympathy. I have not heard of the bombing to which our guest yankee refers, but I believe I can have sympathy for more than one victim, or type of victim, at a time. Cannot guest say as much? |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: brid widder Date: 07 Jan 02 - 01:55 PM When something like this happens politics, or public office are of no importance....the Browns are human beings desparate for the life of their baby daughter.... To suffer such a tragedy is terrible for anyone...to do so in the glare of publicity must be dreadful...last night I held my tiny newborn grandson for the first time...my heart was full...I feel for them. |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: Paul from Hull Date: 07 Jan 02 - 02:14 PM SEEMS to me like 'GUEST, A Yankee' had more than the touch of the Troll about him anyhow. He(?) is probably referring to THIS: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/020107/4/cnmev.html ...it doesnt mention the 'affliations' of the people in the house attacked, but...well, read the article for yourselves... |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: Ralphie Date: 07 Jan 02 - 02:52 PM Latest News The little one died earlier. Can all the bastards out there who find fun in hurting other people.....Now Stop It's not big, and It's not clever Whether It's Sept 11, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, East Timor, Kashmir, Northern Ireland, or anywhere else. Let us all please stop..... I'm getting off this bus now Ralph |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: alanabit Date: 07 Jan 02 - 03:15 PM Quite right Ralph. My sympathy to the Browns and all parents who lose their youngsters for whatever reason. My first child was taken into intensive care shortly after being born and on two drips of antibiotics in the opening days of her life. We were very lucky. The second antibiotic worked. Most other parents of children there suffered far more than we did. I wish the Browns well and hope they overcome their loss and have more luck in the future. |

Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: GUEST Date: 07 Jan 02 - 05:13 PM Sleep well, Little Soul. |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: M.Ted Date: 07 Jan 02 - 05:16 PM Unless you have had this happen, you will never understand the pain--it is like no other--but sometimes, against all odds, life wins out,for the Browns, we pray that it does-- Fiolar. I hope that somehow, through what must have been some terrible years, you've been able to find some peace of mind-- |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: Steve Parkes Date: 08 Jan 02 - 03:50 AM We've had some pain in the past; and some scares with the two children we have. If we don't say much, we think all the more. Steve |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: mooman Date: 08 Jan 02 - 05:17 AM My deepest sympathies to the Browns and to anyone else who has suffered such a tragic loss. mooman |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: GUEST,Firecat at college Date: 08 Jan 02 - 08:17 AM I heard about Jennifer's death late last night, and my heart goes out to Gordon Brown and his wife. At this time, their grief far overrides Mr Browns position in the Cabinet. |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: bobby's girl Date: 08 Jan 02 - 06:41 PM I feel quite strange about the whole thing as I was born 8 weeks premature weighing only just over two pounds, but that was nearly fifty years ago. I count myself very lucky that I survived, and I was really praying for Jennifer Brown to pull through like I did - I am just so sad that she did'nt. |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: catspaw49 Date: 08 Jan 02 - 07:23 PM I am saddened to hear and I think there is no greater pain than that which the Brown family are having now. May the blessings of friends sustain them for nothing will heal there sorrow. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: GUEST,Desdemona Date: 08 Jan 02 - 07:31 PM So much tragedy; my heart breaks to imagine what people have to suffer, and we need to cling all the tighter to those who are precious to us, while reaching out to the ones who need help & support. "Guest, A Yankee": what exactly is the point in playing some perverted sort of "pain & suffering poker" in which you see Fiolar's loss and raise him that poor family in Ulster's? Try to think like a human being instead. |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: Ralphie Date: 09 Jan 02 - 06:28 PM Desdemona, et al Apologies for my previous outburst, But, Our very special friend Mr Yankee, should try and find a life. Pain and sadness transcends all other feelings, (other than love) To try and bring some pointless political meaning to this thread is in very poor taste (IMHO) May her tiny soul Rest in Peace Ralph Now......back to the battle! |
Subject: RE: BS: Gordon Brown - Sympathy From: Fiolar Date: 10 Jan 02 - 11:44 AM My thanks to all the Mudcatters who offered sympathy. Reading through the various postings, it makes one feel that the forum is like an extended family. Pain does pass, but it is at times like these, viz, the Brown's loss, that memories flood back. Thanks again. |
