Subject: Lyr Req:- Sliabh na Monh From: Mick Lowe Date: 11 Dec 99 - 06:56 PM First off.. yes I know I'm out with the begging bowl again (but it isn't for me.. someone has asked me for the lyrics to this tune).. And can I say it isn't Slievenamon or Sliabh na mBan.. i.e. starts with.. Alone all alone by the wave washed strand It starts with "I hear no voices", I'm wondering if it's to the tune of the hornpipe "Slievenamon"..whatever Any help is as always truly appreciated Mick |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sliabh na Monh From: GUEST,Com Seangan Date: 22 Jan 05 - 08:15 PM Phillipa. Felipa, and Martin Ryan Thanks for the info. But The Sliabh na mBan as sung in the Deise by Nick Tobin , Labras Draper et al. refers to the DEise uprisng (abortive) of 1798. It is not sung to the same air of the beautiful Cork Gaeltacht air of Cath Ceim an Fhis. Both airs are beutiful and haunting - i theoir own right. Vide An tAth P. Breathnach. |
