Subject: RE: Apple on a Tree From: Angel 1 Date: 15 Nov 99 - 01:54 AM Hi Matthew: There is a great old actor named Gary Cooper who starred in the movie, "Along Came Jones". You'll find it in the classics section in video stores, it's charming. Anyway, Mr. Cooper sings that song in the movie. Blessings Angel 1 |

Subject: RE: Apple on a Tree From: Gary T Date: 15 Nov 99 - 10:20 PM Great OLD actor? First time I've heard it put that way! I'm suspecting you're on the "not yet" side of 40. Gary Cooper sticks out in my mind for his fine performance in "High Noon", one of THE classic Westerns, and his SUPERB performance in the SUPERB film "Sergeant York", ostensibly a war movie but so much more. I don't believe I've seen "Along Came Jones", but I've no doubt it's charming. Thanks for the "nostalgia jog". |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Apple on a Tree From: GUEST,SteveG Date: 20 Jan 12 - 03:38 PM Strangely enough the tune is still used in the UK on the football/rugby terraces to taunt the opposite fans when their team is losing. Can you hear (team name)sing? No-o, no-o. Can you hear ----- sing? No-o Can you hear ----- sing? I can't hear a f-----=g thing. No-o, no-o, no-o. It seldom gets right to the last note. It's quite a folk survival if it stems from 1951 recordings. |
