Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Do What You Do, Do Well From: Dale Rose Date: 06 Nov 99 - 07:29 PM Do What You Do, Do Well was by Ned Miller, great songwriter, and highly underrated singer. Myrna Lorrie was probably best known for Are You Mine? though she had a nice career and is in the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. But back to the lyrics. I do have the Ned Miller album in question, but have not seen it in ever so long, but will look for it. I seem to remember an Ernest Tubb version as well. |

Subject: Lyr Add: DO WHAT YOU DO DO WELL (Ned Miller) From: Jim Dixon Date: 26 Oct 07 - 07:47 PM When I first read this thread title, I thought there had to be a mistake, and the song must be DO WHAT YOU DO WELL or WHAT YOU DO, DO WELL, but no, it was written correctly--except I don't think it should have a comma. DO WHAT YOU DO DO WELL Ned Miller CHORUS: Do what you do do well, boy. Do what you do do well. Give your love and all o' your heart, And do what you do do well. Well, I can still remember, just like yesterday, About a mighty big man with a mighty big heart, and mighty few words to say. And they were-- CHORUS. Now, he couldn't move a mountain or pull down a big oak tree, But my daddy became a mighty big man with a simple philosophy: CHORUS Sometimes he'd kiss my mother and hold her tenderly, Then look across the top of her head and he'd wink and say to me: CHORUS Well, he was a man of laughter, but if tragedy came by, The tears ran free and he'd say to me, "Never be afraid to cry." CHORUS [Recorded by Tommy Cash, Ned Miller, Sonny James, Ernest Tubb, Slim Whitman, and a few others.] |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Do What You Do Do Well (Ned Miller) From: Leadbelly Date: 27 Oct 07 - 01:02 PM Wasn't it Ned Miller who sang "From a Jack to a King"? Jumped into the british charts long time ago. Great voice! Manfred |
