Subject: RE: The Moose Song From: MMario Date: 25 Oct 99 - 12:45 PM put "moose" in the lyrics search box in the upper right of the screen, hit the "go" button and it should be item number 10. The feminist version will come up as well. MMario |

Subject: RE: The Moose Song From: Eric Hafner Date: 26 Oct 99 - 12:03 AM There's also a parody called "Abuse". (Un)fortunately, the only times I've heard it sung were after many pints of Guinness and mead, so all I remember is the chorus:
I've never had anything quite like abuse I've had many lovers who've tied me up loose But I've never had anything quite like abuse |

Subject: RE: The Moose Song From: GUEST Date: 06 Sep 04 - 08:55 PM I know exactly the song you are talking about- the abuse one. Someone sang me the full version this morning. Unfortunately- I forgot the words (did a little too much drinking me thinks) |

Subject: RE: The Moose Song From: Naemanson Date: 06 Sep 04 - 09:16 PM Fred Gosbee (Castlebay) has written a Moose Song. It is nice, clean, and lots of fun. He took it from a joke that runs around the state occasionally. It seems there was a Scotsman who moved to Maine and did quite well. He had a good life there. Eventually he went home to Scotland where he entertained family and old friends with tales of life in Maine, including about hunting moose. Well, one cousin thinks the tales have gotten too long to be believed and he insists on going to the "New World" to see things for himself. The two go out into the woods and after a few pleasant hours of hiking they spot a moose. The Scotsman turns to his cousin to see his reaction and is startled to see the man running away. When he catches up to him he asks why he ran. "Well," the cousin replied, "If that's the moosie, I dinnae want tae see the cat!" |

Subject: RE: The Moose Song From: GUEST,castlebay Date: 07 Sep 04 - 12:56 PM Thanks Brett!! Here's Fred (Gosbee)'s "Ode to a Moose" © 2000 There lived in bonny Scotland An old man named MacDougall He could play Annie Laurie On the bagpipe, harp, or bugle His second cousin, Ben, Twice removed on mother's side, Came one time to visit For a week at Eastertide This Ben came from America, A little place called Maine Where the winters are all snow and ice Instead of fog and rain And when Ben had a pint or two And his tongue was getting loose He'd tell the Scotsmen stories about How we hunt the moose The moose, the moose It's how we hunt the moose He'd tell the Scotsman stories about How we hunt the moose "Well we shoot one in the autumn When the leaves are off the trees Haul him home with a tractor And pack the meat to freeze" The Scotsman cried "I've heard enuf, I'll gang along wi'you Tae see gin this American moose Can make a daicent stew!" His friends and all his neighbors, There was nothing they could say He travelled to America Before the end of May And when he gets to Ben's house Says "Noo dinna think me douce, But gin ye wudna mind I want tae see the American moose!" The moose, the moose Tae see the American moose Gin ye wudna mind I want tae see the American moose "That could be dangerous my friend This is the time of year When they protect their young You know the cows are very fierce" But the Scot was not dissuaded, He would see one if he could So early the next morning They both set out through the wood And they searched for many hours Before they saw a sign Then tracks the size of dinnerplates Were there beneath the pine And then, right there in front of them, Before a word was said Was a beastie like a Clydesdale But with antlers on his head His Head, his head, He had antlers on his head A beastie like a Clydesdale But with antlers on his head "There's your moose!" cried Ben But the Scot could not be seen He was leggin' it for all his might Right back the way they'd been "Thank ye, Ben!" MacDougall cried Just as he lost his hat, "Gin that's a moose, I dinna think I want tae see the cat" |
