Subject: Bonking To The Oldies From: Jon Freeman Date: 23 Sep 99 - 12:39 PM Go on then I'll run the risk and start this off: If you could make love to a piece of music (doesn't have to be an oldie) what would it be? Are the oldies the best? Are there risks of physical injury bonking to say an Irish reel? ... Jon |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Steve Latimer Date: 23 Sep 99 - 02:39 PM As I stated on the Bad Music thread, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. Some of the most sensuous music I've ever heard, especially the saxophone parts. I also mentioned Motorhead's "Ace Of Spades", but that's only when I don't have time for the aforementioned drum solo. Hey Katlaughing, (and I can't believe I'm asking this question, here goes my Catholic school education in a handbasket) is there a particular Dire Straits song or CD that you prefer for this? |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: lamarca Date: 23 Sep 99 - 06:34 PM Ah, those carefree, pharmaceutically-altered college days. My boyfriend worked at the college radio station and had free run of the record room and a reel-to-reel tape recorder, so I got, ah, exposed, shall we say, to some fairly obscure music. Three of my favorites were the long instrumental conclusion to Fleetwood Mac's "Oh, Well", and The Strawbs' "Tears and Pavane" and the first cut on "Hero and Heroine". But then, he also had three hours of John Roberts and Tony Barrand on tape, too, although we never... Kat - did you know that Arthur Dent shares your tastes? I think Dire Straits came up (no pun intended) in "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish". Me, I like "Romeo and Juliet" on their "Making Movies" album... |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Big Mick Date: 24 Sep 99 - 10:43 AM I must share a very funny moment with you that relates. My best friend of the last 15 years or so is a single gentleman who loves jazz and blues music. One Sunday night I called him at home, not knowing that several others had also called. I also was not aware that he had a guest. It was this magnificent woman that he had been pursuing for quite some time. At any rate, I say "Hello Joe, what's up?" Joe responds, "Mick, listen and tell me what you hear." He then held the phone up, apparently by a speaker. He came back on and said "Who was that?" I replied, "Earl Klugh". He said, "Know what that means?" I replied, "Yep, have a nice time and I will talk to you later". He giggled and hung up the phone. Funny as hell. Mick |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Uilleand Date: 24 Sep 99 - 01:04 PM 3-4 different CDs in the changer for a total of 3-4 hours of continous music are a requirement. Good combination has been Lynn Frances Anderson (not the country singer), Enigma, and Doris Day of all people. For a while the German singer 'Nicki' was one of our favourites. |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Steve Latimer Date: 24 Sep 99 - 01:38 PM Billy Holiday, another great choice. I have not heard Enigma, but I guess I'd better check it out. Well, here I am ready to try some of these suggestions, I have enough money left over for a moderately priced bottle of wine, can rustle up a mean Linguine with clam sauce, have a few candles that haven't been burned in a while. I'm only missing one piece of the puzzle. And I just found out that the promoter of show that I was supposed to attend tonight (my son has an out of town hockey game)was all ready to introduce me to her single girlfriends. When the time comes I'm thinking of Beck's Bolero, and Van Morrison's Baby Please Don't Go and the Inna Gadda Vida Drum solo, (from the a.m. single, not the LP version) Who says romance is dead?

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Jeri Date: 24 Sep 99 - 01:42 PM Not that I've done much bonking recently, but I can't imagine doing so to folk songs - I'd want to sing along. And didley music for diddling? I'd be in the middle of a passionate moment and..."hang on, what was it he played there...was it a triplet or a roll...wait a minute, I'll be right back." And what happens when the music's at a different speed than you want to be going? Maybe that's why all the slow music, you can ignore the rhythm. Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Jeri Date: 24 Sep 99 - 02:45 PM Annap, that's AC/DC who does "You Shook Me." I was living in a dorm and had a next door neighbor who was having a loud amorous encounter to that tape. They had it on automatic loop - the noises eventually stopped, but the tape kept going. I shut her circuit breaker off (and back on) at some point (about 3AM), but I don't know if she got up for work the next day. I've hated that tape ever since... |

For me it can be some Celtic harp music - as long as I don't know the words to the songs. Or a favorite Andean flute music tape. Or Pachabel's Canon. Or an old tape I have of Native American flute which I think is callled "Desert Song". But every once in a while a bit of Benny Goodman's band with Gene Krupa on the drums goes just fine. |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Marion Date: 24 Sep 99 - 05:44 PM One more thing... just thought I'd share. I was recently at an outdoor jazz festival concert and was sitting right smack against the stage - it was one of those temporary stages made of scaffolding, with a curtain across the front. At one point, a couple of girls near us lifted the curtain and crawled under the stage and stayed there a while. I don't presume to know what they were doing, but it certainly gave me the idea for something that might be fun to do under a stage during a concert. Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: CarolC Date: 01 Jan 02 - 11:53 PM I don't think so, Mark. I've seen your picture. |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Rolfyboy6 Date: 02 Jan 02 - 12:06 AM "Hoochie Coochie Man" by Muddy Waters. Great stop time riff. Also "Honey Bee". The whole old "Best of Muddy Waters" album "Smokestack Lightning" by Howling Wolf, and the whole rest of the Wolf's 'Rocking Chair' album Also, I have fond memories of the demure innocent-looking willowy blond who liked The Doors turned up REAL loud. "You're Lost Little Girl....", "Strange Days", "Yeah, I'm your Back Door Man!" John Lee Hooker from the VJ period: "Dimples", "Boom, Boom, Boom", "Big Legs, tight skirt, just about to drive me out of my mind." One girl friend liked me to chase her around the house to that. "Crawlin' Kingsnake" Slim Harpo: "Strange Love" warming up to "I want you to be my Ti-Na-Nee-Na-Ni." Everything by Clarence Carter. "Strokin'" |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Mark Cohen Date: 02 Jan 02 - 12:58 AM Well, Carol, in the words of an old Firesign Theatre routine, "Uh, it's an old picture." ("Precisely," was the reply.) But thanks. So there must be some other reason this thread doesn't apply to me...! Aloha, Mark |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: CarolC Date: 02 Jan 02 - 01:07 AM Nice try, Mark. I just checked the birthdays page. You're only two years (minus ten days) older than me. And I'm not old. So you can't be, either. And I just found out that Big Mick and I are only seven days apart.
|
|
Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Jeri Date: 02 Jan 02 - 01:15 AM Carol, now you're making me look at pictures and birthdays! I did discover that Big Mick said he was born in 1956, which I believe is untrue. Jeez - I didn't know guys lied about their ages! Mark, I'm older than you, so you can just quit calling yourself an "oldie" or I'll have to come down there and spank you... |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Mark Cohen Date: 02 Jan 02 - 01:22 AM Hey, Jeri, I had a college roommate who lied about his height! And, as I said, that means there must be some other reason why this thread doesn't apply to me. I said, THERE MUST BE SOME OTHER REASON...oh, the hell with it. I'll just sit here and play with my instrument. Aloha, Mark (my new Martin 000-X1, of course...) (and thanks for the offer, Jeri...at least you noticed.) |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: CarolC Date: 02 Jan 02 - 01:35 AM Ohhh... I get it. Well, strictly speaking, this thread probably doesn't apply to me right now, either. I think we're supposed to use our imaginations. I think I still have one of those. But have fun with your instrument. I'm sure you'll both have a great time! (I'll have to wait for spring myself. I can't use the gasoline powered riding d*ldo Spaw invented for me until the grass starts growing around here again.) |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Mark Cohen Date: 02 Jan 02 - 02:12 AM Hell's bells, woman, what are you waiting for? The fares are dirt cheap to Hawaii these days, and it's a lot warmer here than in them thar mountains of yourn! Besides, I need some lessons on my little red 32-bass Camerano! (*VBG*) Aloha, Mark |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: CarolC Date: 02 Jan 02 - 02:27 AM That's a pretty enticing offer, Mark. Let me just get through my birthday (*ahem* Jan 2) and then I'll have to give it some serious consideration. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Jeri Date: 02 Jan 02 - 02:43 AM Then again, do you have a tradition of BIRTHDAY spanking in Hawaii? I can get there by the 12th, you know. Carol, it IS the 2nd of Jan - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Deckman Date: 02 Jan 02 - 03:43 AM Someone asked about songs you sing or hum? Well, I can tell you a very funny story on Bride Judy and I. Early on, in our courtin' days, I once broke into Gene Autries "Back In The Saddle, Again." Well, she started laughing, then I started laughing, then we both kept laughing! I don't sing that song anymore! CHEERS, Bob |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: GUEST,frankie Date: 02 Jan 02 - 04:56 AM Al Green's Let's Stay Together, I'll second the Moondance LP but avoid The Gentle Side of John Coltrane unless thouroghly familiar with it as McCoy Tyners'intros are so brilliant they're distracting. Found that out the hard way (actually, the soft way). Also Bill Evans first LP with Waltz for Debbie on it. f |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: gnu Date: 02 Jan 02 - 05:26 AM CC... Happy Bday !!! Perhaps you could start a small engine repair shop so the neighbours won't get suspicious. Or get Spaw to invent a super quiet muffler. Or is the noise required as a muffler ? Ooops, more tea, methinks. |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Murray MacLeod Date: 02 Jan 02 - 08:21 AM I remember reading, when I was about fifteen, an interview with one of those "legendary lovers", (like George Simenon or Hugh Hefner, can't remember his name) and he claimed that the one piece of music guaranteed to drive a woman wild with desire was Artie Shaw's version of "Begin the Beguine". I cannot vouch personally for the veracity of this claim. From personal experience, however, Tony McManus' first solo CD has never been known to fail................ Murray |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Paul from Hull Date: 02 Jan 02 - 09:04 AM Hmmmmm..... other than 'Bolero', I cant particularly think of anything...though Meatloaf stuff was something that worked at one time....*G* Also, BBC Radio 4's 'signature tune' - 'Sailing By' was quite pleasant..if a bit brief.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: John P Date: 02 Jan 02 - 10:12 AM Hmm . . . I find music distracting. It imposes its own rhythms, and builds to crescendos in its own time instead of in ours. I don't want big, loud music during a quiet moment, or a lethargic soundtrack to frenzied activity. Besides, the sounds of lovemaking are almost as important as the smells. I wouldn't want to drown anything out. John |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: Mark Cohen Date: 03 Jan 02 - 09:00 PM For the classical fans, you might try Tschaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet. My college roommate once pointed out that when you listen to it, you almost feel like a voyeur. Well, auditeur, I suppose.... But as for me, I find myself leaning towards Elvis and Simon & Garfunkel (as in, "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" and "I am a Rock"...sigh...) Aloha, Mark |

Subject: RE: BS: Bonking To The Oldies From: SDShad Date: 04 Jan 02 - 11:45 AM Kat, you might appreciate this quote from Douglas Adams' "So Long and Thanks for all the Fish," in a scene where Arthur and Fenchurch are, uhm, on the brink of getting together, and Adams has just been commenting on the aphrodisiac qualities of Dire Straits: "Mark Knopfler has an extraordinary ability to make a Schecter Custom Stratocaster hoot and sing like angels on a Saturday night, exhausted from being good all week and needing a stiff beer--which is not strictly relevant at this point since the record hadn't yet got to that bit, but there will be too much else going on when it does, and furthermore the chronicler does not intend to sit here with a track list and a stopwatch, so it seems best to mention it now while things are still moving slowly." For me, it's Emmylou's "Wrecking Ball" or Loreena's "the mask and mirror" (although her "Book of Secrets" will do in a pinch, 'specially on "Mummer's Dance").... Shad |
