Subject: RE: Tune Add: Shliabh na mBan From: Bearheart Date: 23 Apr 04 - 04:17 PM So I've looked all the threads I could find on this song-- actually trying to find an Englash version I could sing-- and I'm wondering if it is the tune I've heard so often. Back in November when visiting in the Quakertown area I heard someone sing a version in Gaelic that is the one about the battle that was spoken of in the other thread (I think). At least she translated a bit of it for me. It was definitely the tune I know. But I am mostly illiterate musically and learn most of my songs/tunes by ear. I have loved this tune (and wanted to sing it) for many years and only recently knew there are words to it. Guess I will try to at least decipher if this is the tune I know. Bekki |
