Subject: Last Wednesday Waltz From: Osmon Date: 01 Aug 99 - 08:15 PM Some of us are searching for words and/or music to the bluegrass tune, The Last Wednesday Waltz. My three hour web search (o.k., I get distracted easily) has not turned up a thing. Does anyone know the words? Are there some words to it? |

Subject: RE: Last Wednesday Waltz From: Barbara Shaw Date: 01 Aug 99 - 08:53 PM Music for the Wednesday Night Waltz is in the "Fiddler's Fakebook." It was recorded by Kenny Baker, Clark Kessinger and others, but I've never heard of any lyrics. |

Subject: RE: Last Wednesday Waltz From: Date: 01 Aug 99 - 09:45 PM Thanks for the comments. This song does goe by other titles. I've heard it called the Last Cheaters Waltz. Perhaps it would help to identify it by noting that the first three chords are G, F#, G (3 beats each, of course). |

Subject: RE: Last Wednesday Waltz From: Dale Rose Date: 01 Aug 99 - 10:24 PM Here is a whole stack of recordings, courtesy of the Folk Music Index. I have the Leake County Revelers c.1927 version, no words. Looking over this list, I would think that the best bet to find lyrics (if any) would be on the Blue Sky Boys recording, but at the moment, I cannot even visualize having heard it before. Note to Barbara: I did run across my Clean Living album while looking for (but not finding) the Blue Sky Boys album! Wednesday Night Waltz Rt - Tennessee Waltz #2 ; Good Night Waltz 1.Baker, Kenny. Subject: RE: Last Wednesday Waltz From: Barbara Shaw Date: 02 Aug 99 - 07:44 AM Here's an album from CDNOW.COM that has a clip of something called Wednesday Night Waltz, but it's different from the one I know: http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/SID=390345426/pagename=/RP/CDN/FIND/album.html/ArtistID=VA-NATIONAL+OLDTIME+FIDDLER%27S/DDCN=SD-33340+133+2 Copy and paste it into your address bar, go there, and then click on the tune and listen. Is this the waltz you mean? Dale, it's amazing how many people have those old Clean Living albums and how the boys in the band never got a nickel from VanGuard! |
