Subject: Rick Fielding Radio Show reminder 7/12/99 From: Tony Burns Date: 12 Jul 99 - 07:29 PM The show is on in about an hour and a half. (9:00 pm eastern time). I checke the RealAudio feed and it's pretty good here. If there are problems it's not likely to be CIUT's fault. Go to here and select Listen Live. btw - I'll be one of the guests. (Do I get nervous now or later?) |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding Radio Show reminder 7/12/99 From: Banjer Date: 12 Jul 99 - 09:55 PM Joe, if you're so busy with your GOVERNMENT FORMS, where did you find time to call in? It was good to hear your voice...I tried to find the number to call in myself but was unable to find it. Harpgirl just called in a request but Rick had nothing by Stan Rogers. Hello to all...Tony sounded good as well... |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding Radio Show reminder 7/12/99 From: Joe Offer Date: 12 Jul 99 - 10:12 PM Darn! Lost my connection the last ten minutes of the show. It was a good show, Rick. I enjoyed tonight's emphasis on song circles and on music that I can sing. And yes, the show did help ease the pain of typing government reports (and I finished four of five reports). -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding Radio Show reminder 7/12/99 From: bbc Date: 12 Jul 99 - 10:34 PM Great reception here! Sure made it a pleasure. Enjoyed hearing Tony & Joe's call was a treat. All the music was great. We had a power glitch at 9:45 pm & had to restart the computer. Bummer! Compliments to the station for straightening things out. Best to Rick & Heather, bbc |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding Radio Show reminder 7/12/99 From: catspaw49 Date: 12 Jul 99 - 11:06 PM Loved the show Rick. I called and talked briefly to 'Boots when my reception was bad. I've only got one line because here in Bremen we're on the Dixie Cup and Thread phone company---they don't have enough lines to service the town and have already split line pairs which screws up my internet! It seems you have to have a special dispensation from the Pope to get a second line. Anyway, I love the Golden Ring album. As I've said before, Sandy and Caroline and friends put me to sleep on many a hospital night when the painkillers didn't work and it gives me a real special attachment to that CD. Great job from you too on SF Bay!!!! catspaw |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding Radio Show reminder 7/12/99 From: katlaughing Date: 12 Jul 99 - 11:07 PM Nothing like some positive reinforcement. How 'bout we all send some emails to the station & tell them thank you, directly? BTW, sorry I had to leave the chat room & thanks for thinking ole' Wyomin' is exotic. I guess a person kin git used to anythin' they fergit how dif'ent it might be ta'others!***BG*** |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding Radio Show reminder 7/12/99 From: Tony Burns Date: 12 Jul 99 - 11:28 PM I had a great time tonight. I haven't been in a radio station since I was a teenager in Peterborough Ontario. Those were the days when the DJ would have the kids down on a Saturday for a live show and Coke would fill us with sugar. Rick is a great host. He put me at ease right away. harpgirl, OK, harpy it is. I wanted to answer the question going through some listeners minds "harpgirl? Celtic harp? Mouth organ? McArthur harp? ....?" |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding Radio Show reminder 7/12/99 From: catspaw49 Date: 12 Jul 99 - 11:35 PM Actually Tony, the word is that she's a trmendous autoharp player----but since autoHARP is a misnomer as the thing is really an autoZITHER...feel free to call her "Zithy." catspaw |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding Radio Show reminder 7/12/99 From: Rick Fielding Date: 13 Jul 99 - 12:18 AM The Lawd be praised! I can't believe the station actually did something about the problem! My faith in humanity is restored. Thank you all so much for listening (and to those who called in. WoW!) Rick and Duckboots (breathing sighs of relief) |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding Radio Show reminder 7/12/99 From: Joe Offer Date: 13 Jul 99 - 02:50 AM Hey, Tony - what were those URLs you mentioned - especially the one about song circle etiquette and the Greenback one? -Joe Offer- |
|
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding Radio Show reminder 7/12/99 From: Tony Burns Date: 13 Jul 99 - 08:34 AM Good idea Joe. Here's the URLs I mentioned: My homepage with links to The Greenbank Folk Music Society and The Woods Music and Dance Camp. (No link to Mudcat yet Max but I will be redesigning in the next couple of months and will add it.) The best single sight for information on folk music in Canada is Northern Journey Online It looks like I was wrong about the Unwritten Song Circle Rules being at The Woods site or maybe it's just not easy to find. I'll look for it and post it when I find it. In the meantime you might find The Old Chestnuts Song Circle site interesting. The "rules" might be hidden in one of their newsletters. The Old Chestnuts Circle seems to have a slightly different format than the Toronto Circle. It looks like they have a guest performer and also they seem to have a list of songs. Neither of these things are true of the Toronto Circle. Perhaps we need a thread to discuss what works in one setting and not in another and other song circle topics in general. Success! I found a Toronto Song Circle blurb with a link to "the rules" at Northern Journey Online. (Didn't I tell you it was the best site?) |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding Radio Show reminder 7/12/99 From: Tony Burns Date: 13 Jul 99 - 08:39 PM Well, it looks like saying there was no link to Mudcat at my site was the incentive I needed to get moving on the redesign. The homepage has a new look and a link to Mudcat. Now I have to do the other pages...... :-( |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding Radio Show reminder 7/12/99 From: Joe Offer Date: 14 Jul 99 - 05:50 PM Hey, Michael - I tried to e-mail your wife to ask for permission to reproduce and adapt the "rules" for use at the Sacramento Song Circle - but the link at the Website led me to an out-of-date e-mail account. Can you ask her to click on my name and send me an e-mail and let me know if it's OK for me to use the "rules"? Joe Offer, Sacramento, California- |
