Subject: Lyric Req. Can't buy a thrill?
From: dusterjim

I believe this to be the title, first line goes something like: "I ride on the mail train, honey can't-cha buy a thrill, and i've been up all night mama leaning on the window sill, and if I die at the top of the hill, ya know that if I don't make it, ya know my baby will." If you know it, how about the rest?

Jim,

This song is entitled "It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry." It was penned by a famous songwriter named Robert Zimmerman, better known as Bob Dylan.

You probably will be surprised to know there is a bobdylan.com web site with lyrics. Here's the the link for the lyrics you seek.

Enjoy the song!

Wait a minute! This song is not in the DT! Shame on us. Maybe if I post it here, Dick will put it in the next edition. Here's lyrics for the lazy.

IT TAKES A LOT TO LAUGH. IT TAKES A TRAIN TO CRY.
by Bob Dylan

Well, I ride on a mail train, baby,
Can't buy a thrill.
Well, I've been up all night, baby,
Leanin' on the window sill.
Well, if I die on top of the hill
And if I don't make it, you know my baby will.

Don't the moon look good, mama,
Shinin' through the trees?
Don't the brakeman look good, mama,
Flagging down the "Double E"?
Don't the sun look good goin' down over the sea?
Don't my gal look fine when she's comin' after me?

Now the wintertime is coming,
The windows are filled with frost.
I went to tell everybody,
But I could not get across.
Well, I wanna be your lover, baby, I don't wanna be your boss.
Don't say I never warned you when your train gets lost.
^^
Enjoy!

Roger in Baltimore
