Subject: RE: 'My Little Dusty' by Roy Rogers From: John Hindsill Date: 29 May 99 - 08:51 PM This is going to be a tough one, Sharon. While the song may have a great memory for you, it apparently was not one of his most successful; I checked the Rhino Records Roy Rogers 3 disc compilation (90 songs) and it isn't there. I have never heard that song, but I guess it was written about Roy, Jr. I suggest you contact the Roy Rogers Museum in Victorville, CA (click here). Good Luck. -- John |

Subject: RE: 'My Little Dusty' by Roy Rogers From: Stilly River Sage Date: 16 Jul 11 - 10:28 AM If you're interested in the how singing cowboys came to be, you might want to listen to this broadcast from Fresh Air last week when they talked about Gene Autry and the chronology of the radio shows and movies. Roy Rogers was a direct recipient of the work done by Autry. Now back to the search for song lyrics. SRS |

Dusty is the nickname of Roy Rogers Jr. I spent about 10 minutes talking with him and it was fascinating! Dusty |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: 'My Little Dusty' by Roy Rogers From: banjoman Date: 04 Dec 11 - 07:25 AM Just discovered by coincidence an interesting article in our local Parish Magazine (Hampshire UK) It seems that Roy Rogers and his wife (Gail Evans)) spent some time in our village as guests of a local dignitary, Sir Harold Gillies and opened the 9 Hole pitch & put golf course (No longer exists). One of the current older residents of the village had a ride on Trigger who accompanied Roy. Ah the good old days |

Subject: Lyr Add: DUSTY (Roy Rogers) From: Jim Dixon Date: 05 Dec 11 - 10:52 PM Transcribed from the recording at YouTube: DUSTY As sung by Roy Rogers, 1949. The moon shinin' high up in the sky Is smilin' on my little Dusty. Your story's been read; the stars overhead All say, "Go to bed, little Dusty." All day you've played hard in your own backyard. You're my little pard, little Dusty. I pray when you sleep, angels will keep An eye on you, my little Dusty. REPEAT Goodnight, son! |
