Subject: Max asks: Any Lawyers? From: Max Date: 25 May 99 - 10:53 PM Any of you mudcatters a lawyer? We need the services of one for minor things about the new site. Nobody worry, nothing is wrong, we're just making sure nothing does go wrong. By far and away, legal fees are the greatest expense of the Mudcat. Then again, it costs more to do our taxes that what we make all year. If anyone is or knows a lawyer willing to Pro Bono for a good cause, that would be the greatest contibution yet. It would mean a lot for the whole world, cause it holds us down. Please contact me at max@mudcat.org if anyone has got an idea for us. |

Subject: RE: Max asks: Any Lawyers? From: Richard Bridge Date: 26 May 99 - 03:07 PM I am. And I specialise in copyright and IP and IT. But I'm in England and I'm a bit busy. I have done ISP terms and things like that. Try me offline in the membership but I can't promise anything speedy or under US law. |

Subject: RE: Max asks: Any Lawyers? From: Jeri Date: 27 May 99 - 05:29 PM Richard, when someone types "refresh" all it's meant to do is keep the thread active and pop it back up to the top of the list.
As far as e-mailing him, he meant with Netscape, MSOutlook, Turnpike, or whatever e-mail program you have. I'd be happy to try to help, if someone hasn't already.
This suggestion may make the rest of the message unnecessary. Try clicking on the blue clicky thing in Max's original message. Anything happen? You can do a different type of e-mail within the forum. I don't believe this is what Max was talking about, but it's good to know.

Please note I'm aware of the fact I have a "helping problem." People who worked for me got very good at that "sigh, you're doing it again" look. I shall take a lack of reply as a polite, friendly request to bugger off. |

Subject: RE: Max asks: Any Lawyers? From: Richard Bridge Date: 27 May 99 - 06:10 PM Thanx Jeri. Yes I had figgered the blue clicky, but not the other way to get to Dick. Anyway if all he wanted was someone to refresh the thread, it's happening. I can't believe I'm the only lawyer out here with relevant speciality even if I'm in the wrong jurisdiction! Maybe the rest are shy. |

Subject: RE: Max asks: Any Lawyers? From: Jeri Date: 27 May 99 - 08:40 PM Suggestion to the much-appreciated folks at DT: You could try posting a request in rec.music.folk. There may be lawyers who look for songs in DT but don't read the forum. |

Subject: RE: Max asks: Any Lawyers? From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 28 May 99 - 08:32 AM Jeri, Don't worry about being overly helpful here. This group needs all the help it can get. Some of us may "sigh" like your coworkers, but others of us will be much appreciative. I don't recall you posting before, so you should know that this site gets thousands of "hits" daily so many more read than post. You are actually reach a vast audience and your help may encourage them to try out posting in the Mudcat Forum. Roger in Baltimore (just trying to help) |

Subject: RE: Max asks: Any Lawyers? From: Banjer Date: 17 Jun 99 - 09:21 PM A Dead Engineer An engineer dies and reports to the pearly gates. St.. Peter checks his dossier and says, "Ah, you're an engineer--you're in the wrong place." So the engineer reports to the gates of hell and is let in. Pretty soon, the engineer gets dissatisfied with the level of comfort in hell, and starts designing and building improvements. After a while, they've got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and the engineer is a pretty popular guy. One day God calls Satan up on the telephone and says with a sneer, "So, how's it going down there in hell?" Satan replies, "Hey, things are going great. We've got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and there's no telling what this engineer is going to come up with next." God replies, "What??? You've got an engineer? That's a mistake! He should never have gotten down there; send him up here." Satan says, "No way. I like having an engineer on the staff, and I'm keeping him." God says, "Send him back up here or I'll sue." Satan laughs uproariously and answers, "Yeah, right. And just where are YOU going to get a lawyer?"

Subject: RE: Max asks: Any Lawyers? From: Legal Eagle Date: 19 Jun 99 - 04:20 AM My arm could maybe be twisted for a credit. But you might like to try Scott Martin (prexy. legal affairs, Paramount). I'm sure he's a flatpicker! Don't tell him how you know. |
