Subject: ride the white pony? Rich bitch? From: BGC email: BCunni1673@aol.com Date: 24 May 99 - 01:52 AM In 1984 yes, 1984, I heard a song in a club in Toronto and I have been trying to find it ever since. The only lyrics I remember are "ride the white pony, if you want to ride, ride the white pony" and "Rich bitch". If anyone has any idea what the title and/or artist may be I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Thanks! BGC |

Subject: RE: ride the white pony? Rich bitch? From: Lonesome EJ Date: 24 May 99 - 01:57 AM This was some kind of rock/soul song right? I think I dimly remember hearing this and that it was a thinly veiled salute to cocaine use. |

Subject: RE: ride the white pony? Rich bitch? From: BGC Date: 24 May 99 - 02:03 AM I think you're right Lonesome EJ. I only heard it that one time but I have bugged everyone I know about it, and none of them have heard of it. |

Subject: RE: ride the white pony? Rich bitch? From: SeanM Date: 24 May 99 - 03:06 PM Artist is called 'Layback' if I remember correctly, and I believe the name is 'White pony'. Not particularly folk, and you'll probably take a ration of abuse for asking for it on a folk site, but I hope that this helps. M |

Subject: RE: ride the white pony? Rich bitch? From: BGC Date: 24 May 99 - 03:33 PM Thank-you Sean M! You have helped me solve a 15 year "riddle". You are quite right, it is not particularly blues/folksy, but I did also post a Bob Dylan enquiry so perhaps I will be shown some degree of mercy. By the way, would you happen to know of anything like mudcat which focuses on rock/punk/contemporary, etc.? Thanks again. BGC |

Subject: RE: ride the white pony? Rich bitch? From: SeanM Date: 24 May 99 - 06:12 PM Sorry... Most of my contact in those areas is local, and I've been away from that for a while to concentrate on the folk stuff... I know that most major chatroom programs (AOL, Yahoo, etc.) have rooms dedicated to nothing but those forms of music. I believe that some of the Alt.whatever channels cover the more 'professional' ends of the music. M |
