I know a song addressed to Si£n N¡ Dhuibhir, a different woman's name which sounds a wee bit similar. But I think there is also a S¡le N¡ Eidhir |

It describes Síle's beauty, but without the classical references to Helen, Sisyphus,etc. Still, I now have the 'Síle ní Ghadhra' lyrics typed out on disc if anyone is seeking them. Rafferty's 'Siún Ní Dhuibhir' is another song much in the mode 'Síle Ní Eidhir' as described by JohnM |

The English language verse beginning "Alone as I walked on a fair summer morning," [see lyrics in a previous message from John]is found in the John E Pigot Collection (c1845); manuscript included in Joyce, PW , "Old Irish Folk Music and Songs".
