Subject: What does she got that I ain't got From: tfvillas@aol.com Date: 16 Sep 98 - 11:32 PM I'm looking for the lyrics to a song from the sixties. I think it might have been a country cross-over song. Any info will be helpful. Thanks. |

Subject: RE: What does she got that I ain't got From: Joe Offer Date: 17 Sep 98 - 12:40 AM Hi - On her "My Romance" CD, Carly Simon has a song called "What Has She Got?" I always assumed it was a Broadway standard like most of the others on the CD, but now I see that the CD booklet says it was written by Carly Simon, Michael Kosarin, and Jacob Brackman. The main part of the song starts out something like this: What has she got that I haven't gotIf that's the song, let me know, and I'll transcribe it for you. I doubt that you'll find the sheeet music. Too bad - it's a great song. I swear this CD, along with her "Torch" CD, is the sexiest music I own. -Joe offer- |

I would like the lyrics and I'll try to get the music on the web. Thanks. I believe it is the Laura song, so if anyone has the lyrics, I'd appreciate it. Theresa |

Subject: Lyr Add: LAURA (TELL ME WHAT'S HE GOT THAT I AIN'T From: Gene Date: 17 Sep 98 - 08:59 PM LAURA (Tell Me What's He Got That I Ain't Got) As recorded by Claude King Writers: Leon Ashley & Marge Singleton Laura, hold these hands, count my fingers Laura, touch these lips, you once desired Lay your head upon my chest, hear my heartbeat Gently run your fingers thru my hair. Touch these ears that listened to your wishes Most of them fulfilled and that's a lot Let your soft and gentle hands caress my body Then tell me what he's got - I ain't got. Tell me what he's got - I can't give you Must something I was born without You took an awful chance to be another man So tell me what he's got - I ain't got. Laura, see the walls I built for you Laura, see the carpet that I laid See those fancy curtains on the window Touch those satin pillows on your bed. Laura, count the dresses in your closet Note the name upon the checkbook in your bank And if there's time before I pull this trigger Tell me what he's got - I ain't got. Tell me what he's got - I can't give you Must something I was born without If there's time before I pull this trigger Then tell me what he's got - I ain't got. Laura, tell me what he's got - I ain't got. Oh, Laura, tell me what he's got - I ain't got. SOURCE: Country's Greatest Hits/20 Stars-20 Hits Columbia Records/CBS Inc. GP 9

Subject: RE: What does she got that I ain't got From: Joe Offer Date: 17 Sep 98 - 09:24 PM there's another song that keeps running through my head, but I can't figure out what it is. I think snatches of it go: What has she got that I ain't gotIt's a Broadway-sounding song, one you'd expect Judy Garland or Liza Minnelli to sing. It's gonna bug me until I figure it out. Not that it's folk or anything, but can anybody identify my song? -Joe Offer- |
