Subject: RE: Add verse & tune: Where the Roses Never Fade From: Barbara Shaw Date: 16 Apr 98 - 11:51 AM Thanks, Joe and Claudia! I first heard this song at a bluegrass festival harmony workshop on Prince Edward Island a few years ago, and hunted around to find the song after we got home to Connecticut. Finally found it by asking (can't remember his name) who sells tapes and CD's at Winterhawk in NY if he knew the song. He did, and pointed me to a Wayne Lewis (former lead singer with Blue Grass Boys) album. The lyrics I put on the DT are from that recording. The song is beautiful, and I'm really glad to have another verse. |

Subject: RE: Add verse & tune: Where the Roses Never Fade From: Dale Rose Date: 16 Apr 98 - 12:07 PM The song is a favorite with some of the old time groups around here, and is nicely done. I have done a little research into why authorship is credited to Elsie, Jim and Jack, who they might have been, why no last names, etc., but have not turned up anything yet. |
