Hi, Shawn

Re: your request for "The Hobo Song", do you have any snippets of lyrics for us to work with? One or more of the Mudcat habitues is almost certain to be able to give you what you're looking for (and, mayhap more!) if we can get a better handle on which hobo song you seek.

Thanks

Note: Old and In The Way does this. I believe Peter Rowan is singing.

The lyrics, as I know them are:

Too late to feel sorrow, Too late to feel pain, He's just an old hobo, Lost out in the rain.

He'll never cause trouble, So don't have no fear, He's just an old hobo, And he'll soon be far away from here.

Chorus, He used to be a gambling man, Just like you. Until he sank so low, there was nothing to know or to do.

Don't make him as you, Don't make him beg. He was a war hero, And that's how he hurt his leg....

I can't quite make out what the rest of the words are, but hopefully these are enough..

thanks

Here's a transcription of the "Old and In The Way" Boys' I found many moons ago in a far corner of the net. The chords seem to work fine and I think the lyrics are accurate, too.

Have fun with it.

Hobo Song J. Bonus As performed by Old and In the Way

Intro Chords

Asus4 A Asus4 A

Too late to feel (F#m) sorrow, (E D) Too late to feel (Bm) pain (A G) Now he's just an old (Bm) hobo

(A) Lost out (Asus4)in the rain (A)

He'll never cause (F#m) trouble, (E D)

So don't have no (Bm) fear (A G) He's just an old (Bm) hobo, And he'll (A) soon be (Asus4) far away from (A) here

(C#) He used to be a gambling man (D) just like you (Dsus4 D)

Until he (A) sank so low that there was

(E) Nothin' that no one could do (Asus4 A)

Oh, don't make him ask you, Don't make him beg

He was a war hero And that's how he hurt his leg

Well, killed thirty 'injuns, With one cannon ball

Now he's just an old hobo

Asleep out in the hall

A wife and five children Who live in L.A.

Oh, they miss their dear daddy Who's gone so far away

They still have his picture,

It's a-hung on the wall

Now he's just an old hobo Asleep out in the hall
