Hi all. New here... I NEED lyrics for a folk song/sea song the title of which(I think)is Lodestar. The first line goes: "Sail with the wind while there's wind o'r the sea..." The chorus begins:"I'll be the moon watching o'r you at night..." I heard it sung aboard the Adventuress out of Port Townsend, WA, a couple of summers ago. Any help much appreciated ! Chris(tofer)

A beautiful song written by New Hampshire musician, Steve Schuch. His music company is called Night Heron Music It is on his album "Circle of Days". He has published a couple of songbooks-might be in one of them- also thew lyrics are on the insert to the cassette I have but I don't have time to transcribe right now. Good luck
Julia

There's a sound clip on the Night Heron Music website.

Here's the chorus, at least:

And I'll be the moon watching o'er you at night,
The sunlight that warms you by day,
The cry of the gulls keeping you in their sight,
The North Star that beckons you home, pointing the way.

Hey, the Adventuress? :O Cool! I was aboard the Carlyn when I heard that song. On Puget Sound we passed the Adventuress atleast twice, and I'm also looking for the lyrics!

I listened to the sample at Night Heron music again, and I got one more verse:

There's more your heart needs than safe harbor and home
I've seen the restlessness needing to roam
Answer the call of the sea in your bones
I know you're not mine alone.

And I found another verse in a blog:

Sail with the wind while there's wind o'er the sea.
Steer by your hopes. Let no fear tether thee,
But after you journey, come back home to me.
At journey's end, come home to me.

I've crewed aboard the Adventuress a few times and got the lyrics from an onboard shantybook, enjoy!

Lodestar-Steve Schuch

There’s more your heart needs than safe harbor and home
I’ve seen the restlessness, needing to roam
So answer the call of the sea in your bones
I know you’re not mine alone

Chorus
And I’ll be the moon watching o’er you at night
The sunlight that warms you by day
The cry of the gulls keeping you in their sight
The north star that beckons you home,
Pointing the way

Sail with the wind when there’s wind o’er the sea
Steer by your hopes, let no fear tether thee
But after your journey’s done come back to me,
At journey’s end come back to me

Chorus
