Subject: RE: Looking for words to Well, well, well From: Ran Coleman Date: 25 May 97 - 03:20 PM Joe Offer has already provided the words. The Bob Gibson and Hamilton Camp version of the song, a very good one in my opinion, can be found on a Vanguard album entitled Greatest Folksingers of the 'Sixties. The album is coded VSD-17/18. I believe I've seen it out on CD. |

Subject: RE: Looking for words to Well, well, well From: Anne Date: 31 May 97 - 01:36 AM Thanks Joe and Ran for your replies. The words you sent Joe know fit into all my blank spaces. Now that you said Peter, Paul and Mary were the singers I remember them singing it. Ran, I'm not familiar with Gibson & Camp version but I'll look it up. Thanks again, Anne |

Subject: RE: Looking for words to Well, well, well From: vlmagee Date: 03 Jun 04 - 09:15 AM Well, Well, Well is one of the signature songs performed by Gibson and Camp during their on-again, off-again years performing together. Written by Gibson, they added the song when they rerecorded their definitive folk album Gate Of Horn in 1986 as "... Revisited"; the song, however, had been written in 1960 (or shortly before) and had been a frequent request whenever they performed together. Revisited is available on CD and can be purchased at Hamilton Camp's web site at hamiltoncamp.com. It includes both the songs and the between song comments as recorded originally at Gate Of Horn in Chicago in 1961. The original Gate Of Horn album (which did not include Well, Well, Well) was one of the most influential folk albums of its time. Gibson and Camp are often spoken of as being the bridge between the folk music of The Weavers and the singer/songwriter folk music of the 60s and 70s. The recording of Well, Well, Well that appears on a number of folk anthologies is NOT from the 1986 release, but from the Vanguard recording from the 1960 Newport Folk Festival when Gibson and Camp performed together for the first time. |
