Subject: SCA. Members out there? From: Bo Vandenberg (Sigurd) Date: 02 May 97 - 12:03 AM I'm just interested to find out how many SCA people use this site. Sorry if anyone thinks this is out of place. My SCA name is SIGURD Leothsanga of Ealdormere. Are there any other SCAdians out there?

Subject: RE: SCA. Members out there? From: Date: 02 May 97 - 12:31 AM I don't know if it is out of place or not, because I haven't the slightest idea of what it is. Does it require a special handshake? |

Subject: RE: SCA. Members out there? From: Date: 02 May 97 - 05:18 PM Society For Creative Anachronism Its a "not so secret" society. Basically an organization of people interested in the middle ages and things medieval. We have tournaments of arms, practice something akin to medieval crafts and sometimes SING. I like the singing. Basically we keep a corpus of folk song and songs re-written to highlight the silly aspects of trying to relive an age of knights and dragons in our modern age. I heard the SCA mentioned in some posts and I wonderred how many people might be around who sing in the SCA. We are about as amorphous and inclusive as a group can be, all that they really ask is that you wear medieval garb to attend most of the functions\parties. bo |

Subject: RE: SCA. Members out there? From: belter Date: 03 May 97 - 01:21 PM I'm a scadian. Names Gary Jensen, no sca name yet. I'm with the axedroot group until graduation. we have a choir that does peiriod songs, but I do more of the bardic stuf. Nothing like a campfire sing along. The great thing is these people understand that I love the music and want to sing so there willing to forgive me for inflicting my voice on them, occationally. |

Subject: RE: SCA. Members out there? From: Stuart Joseph Date: 07 May 97 - 05:14 PM I am also an SCA member, known medievally (though my persona is actually early Renaissance) as Laird Stuidhart Martainn Mac Dhomhnaill. I met my wife through the SCA and we are both active. To learn more about us, check out our bio page at our website: http://www.sover.net/~celtic/ To learn more about the SCA, visit their web site: http://www.sca.org/ The Society is a worlwide educational organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the Middle Ages and Renaissance. It is worldwide with thousands of members. We do lots of things from fighting and fencing to Arts and Sciences, including singing and making music- not to mention making clothes, calligraphy and illumination, cooking, brewing, and lots more. It is pretty neat! Stuart Celtic Cultures |

From: kyra.comroe@vgamer.com Date: 18 May 97 - 01:22 AM I'm not officially a SCAdian yet (have no car, cannot attend events.. and need another 6 months before I'm allowed into Pennsic without parental company). However, I'm unofficially adopted as the granddaughter of the head of the house Eclipa Blackheart d'Mear, scion of Brent. |

Subject: RE: SCA. Members out there? From: MMario Date: 24 Jul 01 - 11:26 AM Now THAT thought is a little scary. On the other hand, can't you just picture Cleigh O'Possum - dressed in full plate (yes, I know plate is OoP) and riding a muddy feline? I must still be sleep deprived from the weekend...

Subject: RE: SCA. Members out there? From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Jul 01 - 11:44 AM Just wondering why you have to be ren to be anachronistic? Don't y'all got something for those folks who'd like to portray 50's characters, like say, Ike, Lawrence Welk, Joe McCarthy, and other fun folks like that? Spaw |
