Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Friggin' in the Riggin' (from Anthrax) From: Jim Dixon Date: 13 Jun 11 - 11:27 AM It's in the DT: FRIGGIN IN THE RIGGIN. I'm scandalized by the lack of apostrophes in the title. The title has been mentioned many times in the forum, but there doesn't seem to be a thread about the song (besides this one). |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Friggin' in the Riggin' (from Anthrax) From: JennyD Date: 14 Jun 11 - 10:21 AM Courtesy of my first husband's hall of residence at Sheffield University in the late sixties, the lyrics I learned to "The Good Ship Venus" were in places worse than the ones linked to upthread from the Mudcat list. The cabin boy, for example "stuffed his arse/ with broken glass/ and circumcised the skipper". There was also: The third mate's name was Carter He was a musical farter He could fart anything from God Save The King to Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Friggin' in the Riggin' (from Anthrax) From: Charley Noble Date: 14 Jun 11 - 10:42 AM I'm trying to picture Jim "scandalized." "Scandalized" is a nautical term which means that a sail is partly furled but is still being used to catch the wind. Perhaps, Jim would kindly provide us a link to how he looks scandalized. I have fond memories of singing "Friggin' in the Riggin'" with my messmates aboard the good ketch "Stout Heart" back in 1965. It was one of the ways we made ourselves "welcome" in every harbor we dropped anchor in. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
