Electra Label Research

The ill-fated Emerson/Scranton Button Works alliance provided no end of obscure
labels during its existance from 1924 through 1926. Not only were there numerous
brands made for American consumption but discs were pressed for Australia,
England, Ireland and elsewhere. Electra was an export label pressed for the
French market in 1924 with the motto "Disque Aiguille". The slogan suggests that
the intended market was the large contingent of expatriate Americans boozing it
up among the Alpine ski enthusiasts. The illustration is 4121 "Rose Marie" by
the Bar Harbor Society Orchestra, mx. 42733=1. Reverse is "All Alone" -Valse mx.
42734-2, also credited to Bar Harbor Society Orchestra. It would be interesting
to discover if this catalog series duplicates that of any of Scranton's other
export labels.
