but a contemporary report in Variety headed 'Explained To 'Em' relates that
Columbia, "not knowing the song's import", had recorded this classic double

Instantaneous recordings are generally outside the scope of this work but Dorothy ROSS
apparently mass-produced a few titles on 12" lacquer discs. It is not known why this method was chosen over the more usual pressing. Produced by ARC Record Company, 165 W. 46th St., New York NY. Labels are blue with white and black printing.
Harrison DOWD
Born August 15, 1897 in Madison, CT, died Dec 19, 1964 in Greenwich Village, NY. He was a writer ("The Night Air" Dial Press, 1950), pianist with the AEF in the Great War, alcoholic, homosexual and actor who appeared as the lobsterman in the movie "Carousel."
