CONCERTONE 10-inch 78 RPM

This is a little-known companion to Eli Oberstein's Elite and Hit labels from 1941-45. The anonymous releases did not inspire much confidence among serious record buyers and the poor quality of the pressings discouraged repeat buying among bargain hunters. Four-digit mx. numbers in the 1000-1900 range are from 1939/40 U.S. Records Varsity and Royale releases and "08" prefixes are actually defaced "US" master prefixes. This is also true of 35000's. 10000-16000 mx. numbers are dubs of Ultraphone & Telefunken masters from the 1930's. "I" prefixes may indicate 1941 Imperial recordings made before Concertone's parent company merged with Classic Records or they may be renumbered U.S. matrices. The label was revived briefly in the early 1950's on budget 10-inch LP's.
