RACK 'EM UP, STACK 'EM UP
To the tune of "Turkey In The Straw," there is no order to each verse–
they just get a little bit louder, and a whole lot worse!

LYRICS
Verse: There was an old chicken, and she had a wooden foot,
She laid her eggs by a mulberry root,
She laid more eggs than any hen on the farm,
So another wooden foot wouldn' do her any harm.
Chorus: Turkey in the hay, Ah,
ha, ha,
Turkey in the straw, Aw, haw,
haw,
Rack ‘em up, stack ‘em up,
Gee and a haw,
And we'll sing a little tune,
called
"Turkey In The Straw."
Verse: There was a little chickie, and she had a wooden leg,
And they poured hot vinegar up and down her leg,
And the little chickie cackled, and the little chickie begged,
And the goshdarn chickie laid a pickled egg. Chorus:
Verse: There was an old chicken, and she wouldn't lay an egg,
So they poured hot cocoa up and down her leg,
And the old chicken cackled, and the old chicken begged,
And the goshdarn chicken laid a chocolate-covered egg. Chorus:
Verse: If frogs had wings, and snakes had hair,
And automobiles flew through the air,
If a watermelon grew on a huckleberry vine,
Then we'd have winter in the summertime. Chorus:
Verse: There was an old farmer, and he had an awful scare,
He was chased ten miles, by a grizzly bear,
The people in the town thought he'd lost his mind,
To run ten miles, with a bear (?) behind. Chorus:
Here's a version with some actions to go along:
Verse 1: Do your ears hang low? Thumbs in your ears, fingers
Do they wobble to and fro? pointing downward.
Can you tie them in a knot? Wiggle your fingers back and
Can you tie them in a bow? forth.
Can you fling them over your "Tie" them into a knot,
shoulder, And then, into a "bow."
Like a continental soldier? Fling your hands over your
Do your ears hang low? shoulders.
Salute, right–left–right hands.
As Line 1.
Verse 2: Yes, my ears hang low, Repeat actions, as above.
And they wobble to and fro,
I can tie them in a knot,
I can tie them in a bow,
I can fling them over my
shoulder,
Like a continental soldier,
Yes, my ears hang low.
Verse (Worse): I went into a bakery to get a bite to eat,
'Cause I was hungry from my head to my feet,
And I picked up a doughnut, and I wiped off the grease,
And I handed the lady a five cent piece.
Well, she looked at the nickle, and she looked at me,
And she said, "My dear, can't you plainly see,
There's a hole in this nickle, and a hole right through."
Says I, "There's a hole in the doughnut, too!" Chorus:
Question: Do you know why the baker stopped baking doughnuts?
Answer: She got tired of the "hole" business!
