Subject: THE "CHICKEN SONG"

Q.:The annual "Girls Only" shopping trip was never complete until my sister
sang a silly little song about a chicken. I believe one of the lines was
something like - "Go to sleep little boy, and Daddy will buy you a chicken".
My sister was killed in a car accident last fall and we're desperate to find
the words to this song.
Thank you - Cheri H

A. I've looked, but can't find it at all. ---Anybody out there know of this
song?

From: JH & L "CHICORY CHICK"

Some months ago I found your website that lists "silly songs" and noticed
that you were looking for the words to the song "Chicory Chick". I found the
words on the front of an old copy of sheet music and thought you may still
be interested in having the words.

"Chickery Chick, Cha-la, Cha-la
Chick-a-la Romey, In a Ba-nan-i-ka
Bol-li-ka Wol-li-ka, Can't you see
Chickery Chick is me." *

Stewart M. also was searching for Chicory Chick:

My mother used to sing the song Chicory Chick almost all the time. Now that
I am older and can appreciate good music with such meaningful lyrics, I
wondered if I could obtain a copy of this fine song by some mean or another.
Firstly though, I need to know who sang it and/or recorded it.Can you help?
I would really like to know anything at all you can tell me about this.
Thank
you.

Stewart M.

Here's a more expanded version. From 1945 sheet music added here for
educational purposes only:

CHICKERY CHICK
Lyrics by Sylvia Dee, Music by Sidney Lippman

Once there lived a chicken who would say
Chick-chick, chick-chick all day,
Soon that chick got sick and tired
of just Chick-chick,
So one morning he started to say;

Chorus (slowly with an emphatic lift)

CHICKERY CHICK cha-la cha-la, chekala romey,
In a bananika, bollika wollika,
Can't you see CHICKERY CHICK is me.

CHICKERY CHICK cha-la cha-la, chekala romey,
In a bananika, bollika wollika,
Can't you see CHICKERY CHICK is me.

Every time you're sick and tired
Of just the same old thing
Sayin' just the same old words all day
Be just like the chicken who found
Something new to sing:
Open up your mouths and start to say, oh!

CHICKERY CHICK cha-la cha-la, chekala romey,
In a bananika, bollika wollika,
Can't you see CHICKERY CHICK is me.

COCKTAIL, GINGER ALE
Q From: Carmella & Bob : Hi, My husband remembers part of a song that began:
"Cocktail, ginger ale, 5 cents a glass". Did you ever hear of it? I'd
appreciate the lyrics if you know them. Thank you for your help.
