Mourne Magic
by Jim Gillespy, June 2001

*

There is a place called the magic hill
Where things roll uphill against natures will
Where the beauty of the Mourne's can give peace
No matter when you view its green peaks

*

Chorus:

*

The Mourne's magic is a message, hear it well
Like the crisp, clear call of a clarion bell
There's enough magic in these troubled hills
To turn enemies uphill, against natures will

Since it is here that gravities pull is defied
Then how can those blades be beating with Pride
Against what is surely God's true desire
For those given the Irish home and it's fire

But the magic is missing when flying soldiers are spying
While the best of both sides still must risk dying
And South Armagh's people keep praying
For a peace in their land that is staying

In a place that is so special that things go uphill
Let's use the magic in those misty hills
And a just path to the future will surely come round
Though it seems now that it will never be found.
