An Answer to
Katie
Stephen R. Melvin
Some things that I've always admired in ladies,
So far have been good looks and brass.
Well, you've got both and to top it all off,
Darling, you've sure got class.
Now I'll shut my mouth and wise up for once,
I don't want to blow my big chance,
So if you want me, I accept with a bow,
Katie, may I have the next dance?

ON PRINCESSES
For Kimberly Dawn Stipes
I've had my share of princesses,
for whom a soul is sold,
I've had enough of ladies fair,
some meek and yet some bold.
Perhaps your dragons I cannot slay,
but ask me and I'll try,
And maybe your castles still come down,
but again we can build them high.
It's true that silk I'm partial to,
and a crown is always nice,
But heavens! not on a princess!
And I'll say that in a trice.
I said I've had my princess,
And I say I've had my fill,
But lass, in your Reeboks come running to me,
My arms are open still.
It's true that you're not perfect,
But my lady, so am I,
But you can always come running to me,
And I'll be waiting until I die.
